Yes he is, i remember him from the Hopkins-Trinidad fight

Didn't he referee Pavlik Miranda as well? I think they said he has a reputation for letting fights go on and not stopping them until the last possible minute.

Bodes well for this fight methinks. HBO obviously hoping for a bloodbath :P

Smoger was the ref who was sitting ringside and got hit in the head by a flying chair.

Aside from his excellence as a referee, Smoger is also known for being the victim in the "chair incident" which took place during the first Hasim Rahman vs Oleg Maskaev fight. Smoger, the backup referee at the fight, was sitting just outside of the ring when Rahman was knocked out of it by Maskaev. Shortly after Rahman hit the ringside floor, Smoger was struck in the head by a chair which had been thrown from the crowd, by a fan who was soon arrested.

I wonder how close Julie and Harolds cards will be?
Only experience I have of watching Julie was in the Manfredo vs Mora rematch where she made the bad desision to score in favour of Mora. Other than that she was a guest judge on KO Nation

Steve Smoger is usually an excellent referee. Good choice. Hopefully this will allow Pavlik to pound on Taylor's big mouth for longer.

She scored the fight right. You have to beat the man to be the man and Manfredo could not beat him. Other than head butting him, he did nothing and he did not try to knock Mora out. Manfredo Jr is a dumb azz fighter. Plain and simple. Mora came in sick and was cut from head butts. What more did Manfredo need to finish the job? lol
