Thread: Pride Kills

I've seen it too many times now it is starting to get frustrating.

I saw it twice yesterday, but Pavlik was a bit lucky.

Fighters please, when you are hurt, take a knee. Don't let your pride get the best of you. Don't just stand there and take 4 or 5 shots too many. It is better to lose a point than have a ref stop the fight. Gown take a 10 second break and recover.

Pride got Taylor knocked out.

Which, not to float my own boat, is what I said would be JT's demise. If he decided to get to the ropes too much or got prideful with Kelly and tried to bang. It cost him, but what a fight.

It almost got Pavlik too. Did you see the face he was making right before the knockdown? He got caught and he started to shake his head in the "yeah bring it on" fashion instead of covering up. That's when JT caught him real bad. Had me scared sh**less. Reminds me of another fighter, Nate Campbell when he stuck out his tounge and got popped.

Ref Smoger did a great job.

Yeah I saw the face; early this morning I asked if anyone had seen it also. It was stupid and that's when he got caught. He was too confident that since he took some big shots from Miranda he could take them all night from JT. Almost was his demise!!

you know, I was thinking the same thing. WHen Pav was getting knocked around, I was thinking, man take a knee, hug or do something cause you are just one or two punches away from getting KO'd.

i think it was more of a case of taylor not knowing where the fuck he was

Yup.
Besides, if taylor took the knee it was only going to delay the inevitable. i think pavlik showed us once again he can finish a fight.

If you take a knee, the ref will stop the fight. Stupid refs.

All that needs to be said about Pavlik is that he beat a guy who was champ for over 2 years and knocked him out in the middle rounds.

Pavliks pride almost got him knocked out. In the second round he was talkimg smack to Taylor after the first shot then as he was running his mouth Taylor planted that right hand in his face that started his trouble.

I just don't think Stewart taught Jermain to hold on.

Funny, Wladimer holds too much, and Jermain doesn't hold at all. Both students of stewart...

It has to do with pride in some fighters but most of the times it's because they got hurt and like somone already said... it's more like he didn;t know where he was.... you're brain just shuts down and you don't think or are able to react.
