I think all the heavies are overrated Peter really would have been had he gotten knfo. Has to give some moral boost to McCline though. He needs to get in better condition and it would have been a wrap

The only reason Peter won, is cause McCline has no killer instinct. He should have won that fight...But either way, two guys who never legitimately won the title fighting for the title and giving that kind of performance really shows how poor the division is. No one seems to want it bad enough.

Overrated? Yes, indeed. Always said that:

    Jeff Lacy
    James Toney
    Samuel Peter

-are the most overrated boxers in boxing today.

Maybe a little. I dunno though, because people are saying he's the answer. 22 KO's from 29 is not at all bad. He's 27 years old, so has a future ahead of him, and apart from Wlad, I don't see anyone better in the division so I don't think he's overrated, he's the 2nd best in a poor division.

22 out of 29 is good, but who of note has he ever stopped?

With hardly any amatuer record & the fact that Peter is improving...no he's not overratted...BUT...he needs to remember his fundamentals once cracked.

Everyone needs to remember that bad nights are a common thing in boxing especially if you underestimate your opponent.

I actually think that Oleg would have offered a lot more than mccline.

maybe could have been an upset there. i cant wait to see maskaev again i think hes actually good.

Last night there was not much improvement, if you ask me - floored 3 times by featherfisted JM is not much of an improvement

Sam Peter was probably just troubled with the WBC, the steroid scandal, and Oleg Maskaev's injury. It's not an excuse that completely takes the blame away from a poor showing but it's understandable.

Sam Peter has never caught my eye as a great fighter, he's a big puncher who throws wide and doesn't pay attention to defense.

A rematch vs Wladimir will have to wait for a long time

Sam Peter would be best served to fight a guy like Calvin Brock in his first defense to show he's back on track, but if he comes out flat he'll be in trouble!

He's not over rated. He had a bad night v Mccline, has been inactive and thought he was fighting for a world title v a guy he wants to KTFO,a guy(Oleg) that has been ducking him. Its understandable that he didn't look good/motivated...

This is really funny stuff right here. Wlad gets dropped three times by peter and everyone will go to no bounds to say that was all heart and not a bad showing as he is clearly the best heavyweight in the world. He got the W, thats all that matters right? Well, anyone who praises wlad for that performance is now in a pickle. Peter did the exact same thing, bad showing with 3 knockdowns but he won the UD. Anyone who thinks wlad is critisized too much for his win over peter is now in no position to blast peter for doing the exact same thing.

Anyways, this doesn't really change the ranking at heavyweight. Wlad's still #1 and trying to get a unification match with about as much conviction as james toney has trying to do something that doesn't hurt his credibility. Bad showing for peter, w/e he's still 2nd. A rematch would be nice just to see things cleared up. The fact that everyone is ducking peter has to mean something. I suppose you could make the case for people ducking wlad too (I dunno if its him or his opponent, but the bottom line is that nothing's hapening). There's always next year for the heavyweights........

Yea you Wlad fans are huge hypocrites, ragging on Peter when your boy has been dropped more than a hot potato... WTF he has to wait a while to fight Wlad Yea cause Wlad has more pressing fights ahead like a 10th match with Chris Byrd Peter is the 2nd best heavy and no matter what anyone says he will fight Wlad tomorrow if he could and give 1000000% in the process

Cut the guy a break I havent seen so much controversy around a guy like Peter and its not like the poor bastard brings it on himself

He had to fight Toney 2X

Then Maskaev dragged his feet and delayed the fight, Than Vitali was gonna try to cash in and cause another delay, then Maskaev stalled again then pulled out and then the day before the fight his oppnent had steroid speculation
