    Default Margarito/Cotto

If Cotto should lose to Mosley, does this seem like a fight that would be made early next year I personally would love to see it, but wonder if Williams or Cintron will get shots at Cotto 1st. Or would Tony rematch Kermit or Paul 1st What's the most likely to happen 1st

Cotto,f he wins will look for fights with Floyd, then Oscar and if those 2 fail, then most likely Margarito. If the Cotto fight does not get made,Tony will hopefully keep busy and most likely will fight the winner of PW v Kermit, which should take place early next year. If not, then he could just fight the loser of the Cotto Mosley fight which would still be awesome.

I don't know who he will fight but Margarito is certanly still in the mix and would give anybody a tough fight.

Totally agree. He's still elite at WW and would still beat most of them imo.

Well I feel bad for Folden' Johnson, cause' Tony's going to make a statement that night for Cotto/Mosley to see, and everyone else for that matter. This will be a focused Margarito; a rabid pit-bull

I hope you are right Legion, but I'm just glad to see him active. As long as he looks sharp and gets the W,I really don't mind. I honestly thought we were not going to see the Tj tornado in action for a LONG time,so I'm happy to see him fight again so soon! The PW fight had little effect on him!

I'm glad he's being a busy-bee too. All that shows me is his determination to show people he's still around and not to be forgotten, and that he's pissed about the PW loss. I think I'm more excited to see Tony fight than the main event, crazy as that sounds

If Cotto looses to SSM, I think the fashion in which he looses will count a lot.
If SSM beats Cotto via SD or MD chances are we'll see a re-match but if SSM beats Cotto with no doubts more then likely they'll move on.
Margarito IMO is the easiest fight that can be made in the sense that they are both TR fighters.

Plus if Margarito beats Golden Johnson in impressive fashion on the undercard, it would only help "sell," a Cotto vs. Margarito fight even more.

You've got a great point there.

    Thanks.

It seems to me like Bob Arum is making a savvy business move and covering himself in case Mosley beats Cotto.

This way if one of his top guys (Cotto) loses, he still can have him fight on another ppv in his next fight against another one of his guys (Margarito) whose selling power took a big hit when he lost to Paul Williams.

I think Margarito would look foolish, and definitely worse than Cotto against MAyweather because he is so slow, and throws wide punches, but because of his chin and workrate I think he would ko Cotto.

If Cotto loses, then I don't see him fighting Margarito next. He'd probably take a step back and fight an easier opponent. That'd be a tough assignment for Cotto to fight Margarito coming off a defeat to Mosley.

If Cotto beats Mosley, his stardom and drawing appeal will be higher than ever, and he and Arum will go after a superfight with Mayweather for Summer '08. If that fight didn't happen for some reason, then you could see a Margarito fight as Plan B. But there'd be too much money to be made from a Mayweather-Cotto fight, I think both sides would be ready to strike a deal.
