Molitor overpowers 3K Battery!
By Dave Spencer and Shawn McWilliams at ringside
Steve Molitor (25-0 10KO) of Toronto Ontario made a second successful defense of his IBF super-bantamweight championship with a convincing unanimous 119-109, 119-109, 120-108 decision victory over Fashun 3K Battery (58-9-1 35KO) of Bangkok in front of packed house of 5,200 fans in Orillia Ontario. Molitor controlled the action throughout with the exception of an overhand left that rocked the champ into the ropes in the 7th round that somehow was not ruled a knockdown by hometown referee Rocky Zoinierczyk. Molitor survived the punch that had his opponent backing off when he ended up sitting on the bottom rope. Despite a renewed confidence by 3K Battery, Molitor was quick to turn things back around as he continued his effective body attack. Battery who has only ever been stopped by Manny Pacquiao in 68 professional fights proved to be rugged if nothing else as he was able to absorb Molitor’s sustained attack and continue to come forward.
