With Joe being southpaw, will that make it an even tougher fight for Mikkel ?

Personally, with the style of fighting that Joe has employed with his recent fights, I'm not so sure that it will matter so much, though it might leave Joe open every now and again to an overhand right if he gets lazy and doesn't get out of the target zone quick enough.
At the end of the day, it's just as hard to catch a right-handed ghost as a left-handed one.
North, east, south, west, & all that aside...Calzaghe's gonna be throwing angles from every direction of the equatoer...add the mat to that & Kess's pretty much fwockedlll!!!!
Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
I think it might make it more difficult for Kessler to land his jab, which is one of his best weapons, but I don't think it will really be a factor.
Wacks I know you say you like both guys.Originally Posted by wacko3205

And after reading that statement it's pretty safe to say that you prefer a Joe win over a Kess win.
With that being said if Kess wins I'm gonna be all up in yo ass!!! Like if you were riding a bycicle with no seat... Just all up in there!!!

No. Kessler is still stopping him.
this fight will answer may questions about both fighters.
Remember reality is an illusion caused by a lack of alcohol .
Once Joe figures that he cannot be a maniac and throw millions of punches he will use his south paw boxing skills to beat and break down Kessler and then finish him off with a million punches. Hope that makes sense.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Yes, the southpaw stance always factors in to some extent.
Calzaghe has benefited from being left handed his entire career. The sheer awkwardness of the southpaw style, Joe's strength and agility, alongside his superb jab are all factors in what have made him the champion he is today. The orthodox fighter naturally prefers to move to the right in order to set up his right hand, however against a southpaw of Joe's expierience and handspeed, this will act as a trigger for joe's favoured left hand to go to the head.
The counteraction for this is to alter the strategy and the orthodox fighter will move to the left, Again Calzaghe will be happy with this as it will play to his jab. And if Joe can get Kessler on the end of the jab he'll stay there all night.
Thats why i feel Kessler is best served moving straight forward, with straight punches, he better have his fitness up if he wants to pill this off, he's going to have to throw all night!

a southpaw stance is usually a problem for most fighters. i don't think it will cause kessler any big problems though.
I disagree... I think the problems will come in close, Kessler has seen everything in terms of boxing from the outside, but I think he will be frustrated on the inside, and I believe thats what broke down Lacy as well.Originally Posted by wacko3205
I've said in an earlier post that I've not seen that much of Kessler, and Wacko kindly sent me film. He looks good. The strange thing is, Calzaghe is more of a mystery to me. Don't know what his plan will be, don't know how he'll fight. Maybe that's credit to his versatility. Definitely a great night though, and hope Joe wins.
Your both hitting on the same note funnily enough (or at least from where i'm sitting)Originally Posted by Taeth
Calzaghe (as Donny better put it) needs to be backed up. If Calzaghe tries to move laterally, Kessler can cut the ring down well and continue to be authoritative off the jab, trap Calzaghe somewhere and tee-off with a few hard accurate shots.

I'm embarrassed to say,but I have seen Kessler ONE time on the tube live.Thats it!
Just do not know enough of him but against andrade he pretty much did as he pleased.struck me a real Strong and fast handed puncher,Looked like a "direct" forward puncher while Calzaghe throws all around and in bunches with good movement and footwork.
Whats Kesslers History of cuts and swelling?? Can he Punch Through Joes Flurrys??
