Default Andre Berto wants Zab/may fight Gutirrez

I read this at boxing talk I think. Berto wants Zab. Any thoughts? Is it too soon? Also,he may have to fight gUTIRREZ who fought Clottey last year I think in a great battle. A really tough tough fighter.

Berto is the real deal, I roll my eyes at people who say he was lackluster against guys like Rivera and Estrada who are 2 solid proven hardnosed vets that werent about to be a stepping stone to a prospect, they both gave Berto 2 solid fights and even caused adverstity to the kid and he passed with flying colors.

Berto has great handspeed, power and ability to put punches together well. Even though he was dropped by Rivera he still has proven he has a solid beard and heart.

I think a fight with Zab Judah or Carlos Quintana or Alfonso Gomez would be a good barometer to see if this kid should be fighting for a title in his next 2-3 fights

CC back JT although I'm not too hot on Berot myself, you make good points. The only thing I disagree with is his chin. I heard that he was dropped in the amatuers quite a few times and in sparring too. I think his chin is a ? . I thought he was genuinely hurt by Rivera but hey,he showed heart to get back up. I think a Zab fight would be good for him in that it would be a test(for 4 rounds) and he would make $$$ at the same time.

I'd give Berto the slight edge, he's the one who's on a roll young fresh an hungry but it depends on which Zab turns up i suppose

Yep, and it's somewhat a sure thing which Judah shows up these days. I'd give Berto the edge in a long bout, but he'd have alot on his hands in the 1st rounds. Zab is basically imo a gatekeeper now, so a fight with him for Berto is a good gauge to how he'd do.

Agreed Zabs scalp still holds some prestige and i think Berto could weather the early storm.

The fight between Zab and Berto would be great, but Estrada was hitting him with the lead right alot, and Zab is alot quicker. Berto may have the better stamina, and chin but Im giving the skills edge to Zab still. Guitierrez would be a great fight as well. Both would be a step up from Estrada.
