    Default Respect for Mikkel Kessler

First off, I'd like to say that I picked Joey C to win tonight and was behind him all the way.

Secondly, I think it important to give Mikkel a mention, because tonight he looked the part as a world class boxer. He will no doubt produce some great fights in the future and will be back. He was also a true gentlemen in the interview afterwards, admitted defeat but still had a smile on his face. Good to see he's not a sore loser.

Definitely - Kessler won a lot of friends here in Australia for how he handled himself in beating Mundine. The guy has balls of steel - to fight Mundine in Australia and to fight Calzaghe in Wales shows how tough he is.

Thought he fought very well tonight against what is the best super middleweight of all time - he certainly was not disgraced. Joe's speed shone through in the end, but Kessler was still good enough to catch Joe with some great shots.

Great fight, fitting result and respect to both guys tonight.

    Yep, agree. Respect to him.

He's got a lot of good boxing in him, and definitely a future. Unless he keeps fighting Joe.

He was seriously outclassed, even though he remained dangerous to the end.

He'll do fine against most anybody, but not Joe.

I don't think Mikkel Kessler could lose to a lesser fighter than Calzaghe.

Losing to Calzaghe is not a terrible thing...being competitive against him is something else...& while Kessler was competitive in spurts...it was enough to be considered a worthy opponent.

I have always respected Kessler & the fact that he was able to stay on his feet for the duration...after that beating...I respect him more.

Kessler is good for the sport and he'll be busy next year. I want him and Miranda to go to war.

I think this will be the only defeat in Kessler's next 20 fights. He did as good as he could and would have dominated anybody less than Joe's calibre.

I had alot of respect for kessler going itno that and it hasn't changed either. He tried is damn best and give everythign you would expect from a champion, my hat goe soff to him.

again i would liek ot mention the danish fans, they had a greag great showing there, and tried their best to cheer their guy on - and whn it was over they turned around to us and congradulated us and shook hands with the people in my row - great fans and a great champion. If joe does move up i would expect kessler to hold more than one belt in as little as 2 years.

Being a calzaghe fan after tonight I am also a kessler fan. He was better than expected and kept me on the edge of my seat for many rounds ofcourse part of it was Joe being reckless but Kessler is the future after Joe leaves & he would have beaten any of the top fighter tonight whether it is taylor, pavlik or miranda but Joe is a very special fighter right up there with roy jones & hopkins.

Despite the loss he's still the best Super Middleweight out there if Calzaghe does move up a weight. He can have that division locked down for a fair few years to come.
