As always with British fighters, many people are getting on his back saying whatever when he really did have an injury. Good on him, and I reckon he's got plenty of potential to do well, and look forward to seeing him on the undercard of Hatton v Mayweather.

I still think Banks deserves a rematch, he won the first fight IMO. I think that one exchange where Banks was off balance but actually landed the cleaner shot lost him that crucial round. In the future I hope they rematch.

I agree. Paul is a great fighter though.

Paul needs to settle down and box, though

How can you say he will get crushed he is still young and has a great record, he has time on his side to mature into a great fighter he posseses all the tooles, Buddy should give him the power to pull in bigger fights, i wish him well .
All the best, he seemed like a down to earth guy that loved the sport just what boxing needs.

I actually watched the "Uncut" replay because I like Banks. If I remember I had it 3 to 2 and that was being as fair as I can possibly be. It wasnt a robbery or anything, I just think they should fight a real fight at least 8 or 10 rounds and see what happens then.

ohh.. fair enough, I did have an inkling you probably watched the full fight by download or something. Ive only seen the show with the highlighted fights.

From the highlights Banks seem to give as good as he got. I agree, a fight over a proper distance would be far more satisfactory .

PErsonally, I feel that's one of the most annoying things of the whole show, especially when considering the 5-round distance fights. It wouldn't take much to screen the whole thing, and would save fights being edited to favour one fighter or another.

Myself I feel The Contender didn't bring the best out of him, he got so wound up by Banks and on top of that knew he needed a Ko to advance to semi's he just went all guns blazing and got picked off with shots. Me and my cousin were talking the other day that we both agreed Paul got beat 3 rounds to 2 so he needs to rematch Banks IMO.

In February on a Derry Matthews bill at the new Liverpool Echo Arena which i will 100% be attending as it 20 minutes from where I live, he fights for the BBBofC English against Steven Bendall but really should be targeting Gary Lockett or Wayne Elcock IMO.

The fight on The Khan-Earl bill is a warm up for this fight.

Problem with him targeting Lockett and Elcock is that they will both be tied up for the next few month at least after Smith fights. Lockett is now the WBO #1, so I doubt he'll be too keen on getting a tough fight before he challenges for that title, even if it takes a year or so, so he'll be beating similar opponents as he has been recently. As for Elcock, if he beats Abraham he'll have a world title, he won't touch Smith, and if he loses he'll want a few more fights to get back in the victory swing.
