When Miguel Cotto enters the ring to face Sugar Shane Mosley on Saturday night, he will do it on firm footing. The WBA welterweight champion will be wearing a super hi-tech boxing boot with a special sole made out of a Michelin rubber compound specifically designed to channel liquid away from the shoe to prevent Cotto's feet from slipping on the slick ring canvas advertisements that often cause boxers problems. In addition, the boot is supposed to provide maximum traction, allowing Cotto to firmly plant his feet before unleashing his power punches. Cotto's custom made gold shoes will feature Cotto’s signature logo and the Puerto Rican flag to honor his native country.

thats nice, but hopefully it doesnt have the effect of turf and give him too much grip when he tries to turn or strafe, he could fuck his ankle up

I sure hope he's used 'the' pair hes wearing 2 maybe 3 times already.

Wearing new shoes for the 1st will never be comfortable I don't care if they're padded and have pillows inside of them. More often then not you'll get blisters and things like that.
Heres hoping Cotto himself is smart enough to know this.

Gloves, newly designed trunks, in this case shoes.
I play soccer/footy and when I buy a new pair of shoes. I always pass my shoes around. My brother plays weekdays and he'll give them a go. Then on another day I'll go train in them. So that by Sunday when it's my game time they'll be more loose.

I have to belive that there is no way cotto is gonna step in the ring with any equiment he hasn't tested for this big of a fight....here's hoping so at least

I'm thinking the same as Mar and Mick. I'm sceptical every time a fighter tries something new before a big fight. And when I say sceptical I mean in a superstitious kind a way...
