Yeah it worried me slightly as well, but im sure billy graham wont let him peak too soon. As it says in the report hes just levelling off for the next week or so and then stepping it up when he gets to vegas. What i found impressive was that he's using 500kg on the leg excercising machine (i dont know the technical term!). Thats a fuck load of weight to be taking on your legs and then reextending them...im not surprised they told him to chill out or risk his legs snapping off!

If hes near fight weight it means he can eat as much as he wants. lets not forget he usually weighs in at 140. and the fights not that far away. i think HATTON will come in super strong unlike before when he boxed at welterweight and had just ate junk food to bulk up. if hes so near the weight it proves his diet and training regime is spot on and mayweather is gonna be facing one super strong welterweight.

I think Ricky and Billy are planning for the Hitman to come in well under 147. They have both said that the only weight they feel they need to attain is the weight of 152 just before the fight as Ricky feels this is his optimum weight.

Alternatively Kerry may want Ricky's weight to dip a little for now before hitting the weight training hard to bulk up a bit.

It'd be nice to be wrong like VD sometimes, just to add a little variation to life.

Unfortunately, I live with the burden of being right all the time. Ricky by KO.

look at CALZAGHE against Kessler. Before the fight Joe was only taking in 500 calories a day and training two - three times a day. Yet he was still strong eventhough he struggled to make the weight. hatton has no worries about calories or making weight and will be at his strongest ever. there was a feature on him last night on tv and he looked awesome.

Hahaha Oh, how i wish that was true

I think this 148 thing is just pre conditioning. He can afford to hit some weights, and really be strong (not just surplus fat n fluid) at the weight. Im sure the'll make another push for weight loss in a couple of weeks or so.

Just because the fight is at 147, that doesn't mean Hatton HAS to come in at 147. I think a common mistake that fighters make when they move up in weight is that they feel like they have to put on the extra pounds, when they really don't.

When Floyd moved up to fight Oscar, I thought he did the smart thing by only moving up to 150 (and he claimed he only weighed 148 by fight night), instead of going all the way up to 154. On the other hand, Winky went all the way up to 170 against BHop, when he should have come in closer to 160.

Ricky should weigh around 142 or 143 for this fight. In other words, he should train the exact same way as he does for his 140 fights, but not worry about sweating off the final 2 or 3 pounds.

In some cases that can be said but for this fight IMO Ricky is just taking it seriously and not letting himself get into Ricky Fatton mode....right now with him being so close to 147 he can play around with his diet a bit...not starve himself or risk dehydration leading up to the bout...actually eat like a human being up until a week before the fight,,,,more then likely making him stronger.....Ricky is taking this one SERIOUS!!! perhaps like no bout since the Tszyu one...good for him...I still have to pick Floyd ( who is NEVER out of shape even in off time)...but I will be rooting for Hatton

2 smart posts. I never really saw it like that. I just presumed he would want the power that would have come with the extra few pounds but it seems Hatton is going to maintain speed and have power. If Mayweather wins this,he'll get credit for sure, because this is the best version of Hatton I've seen. Didn't he weigh in at 15o plus for the Collazo fight? I think they learnt their lesson.I hope it helps,I want to see an exciting fight! I love watching Mayweather but have not been overlyexcited with ANY of his fights at 147/54,I hope that trend changes with this fight. It's up to Hatton to force the issue!

Nice post Daxx. I've been thinking through his training that Ricky hasn't taken some of his fights seriously in the past. I think he suffers from the same thing that Calzaghe does, in the fact that he sometimes can't get motivated for the fight.

Calzaghe couldn't be bothered and laboured to a win against Bika, and Hatton couldn't be bothered and laboured to a win again Urango.

For this one (like calzaghe vs Kessler) he knows that this is the biggy! This is the fight that will define his career. This one is serious and he is motivates!!!

    Foooooooking Come on Hatton!

Ricky's preparing to go 12 rounds as he should. If he wins it will likely be decision and his team knows that he has to be busy every second of every round. Pressure fighting is Ricky's offence and defence and he needs to maintain that to have a chance.
