Default The Official Mayweather-Hatton 24/7 Thread

OK, first episode of 24/7 is tonight at 10 pm. Let's make this thread the place to discuss the episodes.

Of course, the best part is that everyone's favorite wacko father and uncle (Floyd Sr. and Roger) will be back in front of the camera for 4 weeks.

I was actually about to jump on the same boat, because of a gut feeling I got, but Floyd's skill outweighs my gut, so I'll stick with him.

Newbie to this site. Hello all.

Anyway, I've been very excited about the return of 24/7. I thought it was some of the most interesting boxing TV that was broadcast this year.

The behind-the-scenes stuff on the first version of 24/7 is kinda what I WISH 'The Contender' was.

    FMJ TKO 10 Hatton.

It seems Floyd and his team are taking Hatton way too lightly, saying he is no different from anyone else he has faced, the thing is though Hatton is different. Fave quote from the show was Billy Graham "He's an idol in Britain, and a God in Manchester." It's fucking true.

....I don't care to watch 24/7, I mean do people really want to watch Floyd Mayweather be a loud mouthed bastard in their spare time?

I hope that Floyd gets his ass KO'd I dislike him because he shows no respect for anyone and does anything he can to hype himself.

Say what you will about Hatton's style, but he's a good guy there's no doubting that and it doesn't take away from him being a tough boxer....I wish him the best

Floyd has spent his life avoiding humility....it will seek him out and I only hope he hasn't filled his ego up so much that he can't handle when he's no longer on the top of the mountain

From all reports, FMJ has been training like a fiend. I think he only knows one way to train - all out.

Some reporters have observed the ten minute rounds, etc. And Lovemore said that sparring has been nine minute rounds with 15 second breaks. All the usual stuff that we've known FMJ to do.

Fitness won't be a problem for either man. Hatton will be in the best shape of his life. Hatton will tire, but it will be from the combination of taking shots and pursuing Floyd's lateral movement.

Hatton hasn't faced someone who brings superior speed, athleticism and footwork. That will trouble him. Plus, Ricky is just too small.

Agreed on everything you said. Alot of people want to say Floyd hasn't been in with anyone like Ricky, but the same holds true on the other side of the coin as well, Ricky's up for his toughest opponent. The show was good and I really enjoyed the Hatton segments. Seriously, I just muted the t.v. when Floyd came on as I heard it all on the last 24/7 with Oscar. Let me guess, more stuff about his dad and how much money he has and Leonard Ellerbe flapping his fat mouth? With that said, Floyd's a bad mofo and Ricky better get ready foe the storm that's headed his way. Welcome to the board DIOS, have a CC on me bro'.

    Thank you, Legion.

Some of the FMJ stuff was family-drama-repeat, and some of it was new.

Floyd showed more sensitivity this time, and he seemed like he was gonna cry when he was talking about his dad. He clearly loves his kids and wants to avoid the mistakes his dad made with him.

I've heard many people have a problem with Ellerbe, and frankly, I just don't see it. He is BY FAR the most reasonable member of Team Mayweather (like being the tallest dwarf). He is seldom profane, and he is mostly quite measured. He supports his guy...but that's his job. Right?

These guys have problems. In much the same way that Mayweather needs constant positive acclaim for his boxing skills, Hatton seems to need the social acceptance of his peers. I don't think one is superior or inferior to the other. It's just ...different. Oscar blows off steam by dressing up as Tinkerbell. Er, I'll tolerate Floyd's cash fetish.

Donald Trump and Martha Stewart and Oprah need to put their name on everything. Bill Gates built a huge ridonkulous house. Meanwhile, Warren Buffet brownbags his lunch. People are just different.

I sometimes bristle at Hatton's characterization of PBF. Ricky has to understand that some people are different. RH's viewpoint is a form of intolerance.

Also, Ricky said that he has 33,000 fans and Floyd has 33. Ricky perhaps should reflect on why he is making his biggest payday for this fight.

Graham seems like a reasonable guy. He is bothered by the fact that (many) people consider Hatton as one-dimensional. In truth, that would be an indictment of his training abilities. So I understand why he rejects that criticism. But Chavez and Duran are pressure fighters who were ALSO fine boxers. Ricky has yet to display that breadth of skill. And it's doubtful that he will on 12/8.

Mayweather is a cardio machine. But he seems do do the same training techniques for every fight. I understand that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", but he is also nearing 31 and fighting a smaller man than his last two fights. It would seem that some adjustment would be appropriate.

Whew. Those are my observations from the first ep.
