Punch Power: 465 | | Poll: Which fight would you rather see in '08? In my opinion, there are two potential MEGAFIGHTS that could happen in early 2008.
Both would feature fighters who are in their primes and among the top 5-6 fighters PFP in the world.
If you had to choose one, which of these fights would you rather see happen in '08?
(The Floyd-Cotto fight is obviously working under the assumption that Floyd beats Hatton.) |

Punch Power: 3294 | | Re: Poll: Which fight would you rather see in '08? I'd obviously love to see both, but I voted for Mayweather - Cotto. Based purely on the SSM fight, I think Cotto might have the tools and timing to trouble and maybe beat Mayweather (though Cotto didn't look as impressive once SSM started boxing and moving more). Mayweather needs to fight the best of the welterweight division, and the only three fighters I want to see him agaist after the Hatton fight are Margo, PW, or Cotto and I'd much rather see him face the last two.

Punch Power: 1597 | | Re: Poll: Which fight would you rather see in '08? Pac/JMM for me. Tough to give a reason why as they are both huge fights. I guess there are just a couple of other fights I'd rather see Cotto in instead of Floyd.

Besides we all know that Marquez will adjust to Pacqiaou and school him the second time around from the 1st rd to the 12th. |

I don't think we'll ever see Mayweather take on another young unbeaten champion after Dec 8th. He'll probably be seeking out Mosley now he's damaged goods at 147lbs after Hatton destroys him.

Nevermind, I just saw someone else is picking Pac/JMM. Bruce Lee must be here. |

If Mayweather can get past Hatton I think he could get past Cotto. Although Cotto is a slicker and rangier boxer than Hatton, he doesn't have the come forward style and footwork of Hatton, he doesn't quite make the gaps like Hatton does, but he does posess devastating power, so does De La hoya and he couldn't land that big left hook. Cotto at this point is dynamite and has better handspeed than Hatton, but he doesn't have that speed of foot to get inside on the guy, he doesn't quite make the angles, he finds them with accuracy, but Mayweather needs to be feinted and pushed to be made open, body or head. I'm not saying Hatton is better than Cotto, but styles make fights. If Hatton ever faught Cotto I'd be watching through the splits in my fingers, but against Mayweather I don't see him having as good a chance as Rick. |

If Hatton ever faught Cotto I'd be watching through the splits in my fingers, but against Mayweather I don't see him having as good a chance as Rick. | That's a fair argument. I think the difference in size and reach between Hatton and Mayweather is going to play a large role in their fight; its going to be tough for Hatton to get close enough to land his shots against Floyd without absorbing some serious punishment. Cotto is only a bit taller than Hatton, but that extra bit of reach will help him if he fights Floyd. I also think Cotto's recent experience against Judah and SSM would be a great assest against Floyd. I don't know if Cotto can beat him, but I think he has a better chance than Hatton. On Dec. 8 I'll still be cheering for Hatton though. |
