Well my primary point would be to say that i feel the 50/50 split is ustified. Bothe men deserve the financial and repuatable staus of being 50/50 (going into the fight at least.)

I would also like to state that in this situation either man demanding more would be either greedy or attempting to break down negotiations as bothe ar going to make plenty from this fight.

I love Bernard Hopkins (even though he was talking out of the side of his neck about Hatton/Mayweather) but Calzaghe is going to tap that ass like a beer keg. After Lacy, the first time I saw him, I will never bet against Joe. His initials are JC for a reason.

Yes Calzaghe has beat Kessler and Lacy but would Hopkins be the favourite to win been he has mixed in better company?

I bet it ends up in Wales. They're not going to leave millions of dollars on the table, especially with two to the pound right now.

I really think Hopkins might be too old, this isn't Tarver, and Calzaghe differently than Winky who I feel lost by maybe a round against Hopkins and he was the naturally smaller man while Calzaghe isn't so much. I think like Kessler-Calzaghe their speed will be relatively close and their fighting speed will be even closer because Hopkins reacts so well to everything. I think also that Hopkins right hand is so accurate and hard it will losen Calzaghe up a bit, but Calzaghe's combinations are disorienting, and he throws those combinations so easily. I think this is a close fight, but Hopkins would have beaten Calzaghe if he was the same age.

hmmm he has but i just think Calzaghe would be far too busy for b-hop.....unless b-hop could seriously take something away from joe.......like one of his hands or something

CC, agree completely. Today's Hopkins just doesn't throw enough punches to beat someone as busy as Calzaghe on points. And I don't think he's stopped anyone since little Oscar. Then again, I figured Winky's workrate would do the trick too. I think I'd pick JC, but it'll be very interesting to see what the betting lines are for this fight. The only thing I can say for sure is that--like all of B-Hop's fights from the past 3-4 years -- it will be an ugly fight that's boring and horrible to watch.

No chance Hopkins leaves the States.

Plus he was riled into making racist comments just by Calzaghe turning-up in the same town and a bunch of Hatton nuts getting on his case.. funk knows what he'd do if it was really put on him.

It'll cost him $1.5 million if he stays at home, at least. Probably over two.

Hopkins started with the white guy stuff even before the weigh-in when they had the initial confrontation in the media centre. I'm guessing it was all pre-arranged anyway though.

I reckon that he's going to look at it like this :

He won't draw more than a couple of thousand fans, so Yankee Stadium is out. MSG will be 80% Calzaghe fans, just like Vegas the other night. It's going to be an effective away fixture for Hopkins anyway, so he might as well go where the money is, plus it gives him a good excuse when he loses.

Does anybody know what he was getting sung at him? I read "Hopkins is a wanker" and "you'll never beat Calzaghe" but I'm sure there were others. Is there any video knocking about on the net?

Normally I'd agree with you that it was staged. But don't think so. Hopkins looked a bit miffed at getting jeered and "disrespected" in his Country.

No chance the fight happens in Wales.

It's so easy to look at this fight and say joe wins no problem, but there is just something about hopkins that i hate to bet against.
