Heavyweight Francois Botha has pulled out of his fight against Arena Box-Promotion heavyweight sensation Odlanier Solis on December 23rd in Halle. "I believe Botha didn’t know who Solis was when he took the fight," said Arena-CEO Ahmet Öner. "Then he read some articles, watched some tapes and was warned by friends and pulled out. It’s sad because it would have been a good test for Solis. Botha is a very experienced fighter who fought for the world championship four times. It’s hard to find an adequate replacement for such a name – especially at a short-term pull out like this. It’s always hard to find opponents for Solis because everybody is afraid of his power and accuracy. No boxer in the world wants to be knocked out."

Botha has stepped into the ring with the likes of. Lewis, Tyson, W.Klitschko, Moorer, i doubt he would be scared of Solis.

It should also be noted that all the guys you listed knocked him the fuck! out. Something tells me scared is not the right word here but "worried" sounds about right.

LOL, I didn't even know Botha was still fighting I remember when my boy Lewis beat him like dirty laundry. I really don't keep up with the heavyweights though since Lennox stepped down. Here's what I remember of Botha/Lewis:

Marching Towards the Abyss...........

Botha was out boxing Tyson until he walked into a straight right hand in the 5th, when i was watching the fight i couldn't believe how bad Tyson was getting out boxed by someone like Botha.

I can agree with that its just when someone has gone up against elite fighters like Tyson, Lewis, i think *Scared* is totally the wrong word to use.

Botha has only been stopped by elite fighters. He ain't trying to get stopped by a young fighter like Solis

Having just checked on that story now, it's been updated that Julius Long has actually stepped into the breach. It's on Eurosport, so I'm quite looking forward to have a look at Solis, although obviously Botha would probably have been a bigger better test for him.
