Sucks. Don King apparently is getting in the way.

Diaz signed with King-you get what you deserve-and part of that was that King had to give permission for Diaz to fight if another promoter made the purse bid for one of his fights. Which Oscar did, making a real high offer apparently cause he wants Diaz when his contract with King ends sometime early next year I think.

King apparently is not budging, won't give Diaz permission.

HBO's already scrapped the Feb 9 date, apparently there's a chance it could still happen March 8 if they somehow worked out an agreement in the next week but this doesn't seem likely.

Would King not get a whole heap of Money even if it was Oscar who initiated proceedings? I think Oscar has gottn what he wanted though as King is now seen to be holding Juan back, so Juan may well defect to Goldenboy.

I actually feel King has neglected Juan somewhat. Don has a legitimate p4p guy and instead of promoting and publicising him all his enrgy is in Trinida V Jones.

yeah I hope this just doesn't turn into some thing where Diaz is sidelined for a while till he can get out of his contract.

Cause I'm not exactly sure when he gets out of the contract.

In some ways maybe if this was put off for a year or so it wouldn't be bad, maybe Katsidis could get on HBO, get a bigger name, make it a bigger fight. But Katsidis with his cuts and face first style could lose to somebody he's not supposed to lose to between now and then.

As big a fan as I am of Diaz, he didn't have to sign with King, its just coming back on him.

From what I've heard Katsidis looked at Santa Cruz but he wants another shot at Casa

What I'd like to see is Katsidis-Nate Campbell, that's a risky fight for Katsidis though.

Campbell would be a risk, but he's in really the twilight of his career and not as risky IMO as a couple of years ago would have been. Would be a good win for Kats if he could get it against Nate. He will get tested though. Someone needs to check David though, and Kats/David Diaz would be a fun one to watch. Isn't Diaz fighting Soto soon?

There was something on boxrec about that but that's all i've heard and boxrec isn't always right.

The other side of the coin is that Katsidis can get anotrher one or two fights hopefully at world level in order to grab some much needed expierience before jumping in with Juan.

Sucks, I hope King & Oscar can somehow work it out.

HBO scrapped it once DK threatened legal action.

Savannah says King has to give them one more fight before the contracts up but he doesn't want any future options on it so I have no idea what's gonna happen, Diaz could be out for a while maybe.

They got themselves into it by signing with him, even though he's a favorite, I don't have much sympathy.

When will fighters learn that DK in the end will bend you over.

Hopefully the Don is just after a piece of the fight from Oscar, ot the promoter equivalent of step-aside money or something.

After a year of promoters actually working together to put good fights on it's almost refreshing to see a bit of normal service being resumed.
