Default Anyone else hear that you gain weight when you fly?

Not sure what old fight I was watching but someone mentioned that a fighter gains weight when he has to fly. Any truth to this?

Depends if he eats during the flight.

And this was supposed to be just from the flight itself?.....The closest thing I ever heard about something like that...and I will say I never looked into it or really gave much thought about it was that when you fly (and this is only while in the air)...your body has extra weight from more gravitational pull....then once you land though all is normal......again not sure the whole truth behind it or did I look into it....heard it on one of those fact or fiction shows the discovery channel has pne while flicking through channels once.....

You gain weight if you down a slab of beer on a flight from OZ to the UK

Well according to announcer/commentartor he kept saying over and over again about how fighters gain weight during the flight but I think this has to be something more to do with the way the body handles dehydration in high altitudes. I swore he said fighters can gain five pounds during flight with out eating or drinking a thing. I don't know if this is true or not I guess it could apply but I can't image anyone normal people gaining weight just because they were flying. Imagine how big our flight attendants and pilots would be then. lol

Seriously, i cannot imagine this is true. I fly a lot and recently came back from a trip to Asia 1kg lighter! Admittedly it was hot and i nearly burst into flames in Thailand but there is no way you could put on weight on a long distance flight unless you pigged out on every meal they served up to you. You should drink lots of water on long flights and no Alcohol so i see no reason why any traveling boxer can put on any weight.
