    Default Best Comebacks In Boxing.

Eder Jofre coming back from a 3 year lay off at 37 to win the world title off Jose Legra.

Sugar Ray Leonard coming back from a 3 year lay off to beat Marvin Hagler.

Larry Holmes coming back and beating Ray Mercer at 42

George Foreman coming back and destroying Moorer at 45.

Holyfield coming back after everyone said he was a shot fight and beating Mike Tyson.

Willie Pep coming back from the airplane accident after doctors said he would never walk again. And winning a World title that is amazing.

Roberto Duran coming back against Davey Moore in 83 and Barkley in 89 after everyone thought he was finished.

Ali coming back after being out of the sport for 3 years. And beating some of the strongest Heavyweight opposition in the history of boxing.

Next week I'll be posting "Felix Trinidad coming back from a 2 and 1/2 year layoff to KO Jones Jr."

How about Maske avenging his only loss 10 years later. I know the sircumstances might be a bit shady but it was pretty impressive.

    CC. Stole my thunder.

James J. Braddock is the ultimate comback kid. If you've only seen to movie, read the book too. Great read, and it will give you the real story of Max Baer, who gets a bum rap in the movie.

considering Leonard came off the back of a very average performance against Kevin Howard , after being diagnosed with a detached retire, and being out of the sport for 3 years...SRL's comeback whether he won/lost or drew was remarkable. Even to all those who think Hagler was robbed the fact that leonard even made it as close as it was showed how great SRL was, and dont give me all this about Hagler out of his prime...becuase the above reasons show if anyone SRL was outta there prime! Ali's comeback from Prison to dominate the heavies was amazing also. Foreman winning the belt back at 45 cannot go unmentioned either, i didnt think that was even possible when he did it!

yep - has to be Braddock

In recent years I have got to say Holyfield when he did Tyson and then Moorer. Really thought he was shot after his first ever KO defeat to Bowe in their rubber match - though he did have his moments in that fight I guess.

Another thing that is amazing about Willie Pep is that he was in that plane crash January 8, 1947 and then ended up fighting his return bout JUNE 17, 1947 he wasn't even off a year, he ended up fighting 10 more times that year.....UN-FREAKING-BELIEVEABLE!

Mike Tyson- 3 years and jail and then to come back and win the HW championship was a great story

Muhammed Ali- No jail but a three year lay off to come back and be HW world champion

George Foreman- Moore had no business losing that fight

I just got thru watching Jorge Fernando Castro against John David Jackson, and that has to be one of the best comebacks I've ever seen. Castro wasn't down but he was hurt and beat up and cut and he came back to pretty much one punch KO Jackson in the 9th. It was awesome.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Yeah, that's what makes me think there may be some validity to Holyfield having used steroids. He was supposed to not be properly conditioned because he'd had the flu and hepatitis or something, but I think he may have only cycled off the juice and it took more out of him than he expected. Plus Tyson bombed him in the chest in the first round and he had preternatural recovery ability.
    Oops
