Default How Far Can Andre Berto Go ??

I think Berto is a great prospect he has quick hands good punching power, he goes to the body very well and he has a solid jab, he also takes a good shot except for flash knockdown against Rivera. But im not quite sure how far he can go in Welterweight division because theres so many talented fighters at the moment. Its hard just to get into top 10, the only way i see Berto winning a belt is if he can get to Cintron before any of the other top Welterweights do. I think Berto will beat a few of the top 10 Welterweights, but i think he will fall short against the very elite Welterweights, i also think his defense is very leaky as well he needs to sharpen that up big time if he has any future in Welterweight division.

    But whats your thoughts ??

I fear that, unless he moves to another weightclass, he will find himself KOed when he challenges one of the champions. I'm not even sure he could beat Cintron who, despite all the negatives, hits pretty damn hard.

I would like to see how he does against guys like Quintana, Clottey, Collazo, Judah.

Agreed 100%......Berto's jaw is a big question right now and TBH I am not all that convinced of his power against elite opp....or even the second tier....

IMO Judah would be a great fight to answer the question's.....even if he lost it would be no shame and just let us know what potential he has and what needs fixing

    Not sure about this guy.

One fight he looks to have good potential, the next fight he looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Berto's a stud. That flash knockdown came as a result of him being overconfident and committing the sin of not being on his guard. He is quick, he is strong and the only time I saw leaky defense was against an opponent he knew couldn't hurt him and allowed him in just enough to take the guy out. He is still too green for the top ten. I say bring him along exactly like Cotto. The guy didn't crack the top ten of 147 until last year- even at 140 he didn't mix it up too much with the heavy hitters. Berto takes nowhere near the punishment Cotto does (though I think his chin may be on par), he's probably close in strength and he's faster. I say he takes a belt in mid 2009.

so am i....always rated and looked out for this guy since the first time i saw him. He seems to of come along quite well and if he irons out that defence which im sure he will over time we will see a very good fighter in the making.

I see Berto catching hell against the champs, Cotto,Citron,Williams. He reminds me of Jeff Lacey. He has what I call soft power. Cat in the top 4 will be able to outlast him. A fighter like Margo I see hurting him badly. I may be wrong or maybe I have not seen enough of him yet but IMO he is not ready for the top 5. Only 1 way to find out though is in the ring. What the hec, give him a chance. He better step carefully because the BOOGIE MAN is out there. The Boogie Man(Tall Paul) is not above beating up on Berto either. THE BOOGIE MAN COMETH. A bit of advise for you Berto, dont get cute and say Tall Pauls name or u will be on his hit list too.

As long as Berto is in the ring I want to see him fight. He leaves very little to be desired in the lets it all hang out sort of way.He leans forward alot and I think someone with decent power and mobility will give him hell on his heels.
He is among a hand full of guys that have potential of furnishing many Ko and kd highlights,on both ends Imo.He'll be great to watch for as long as he goes.

Ist he on the undercard of Pavlic Taylor II ? If not another big fight comming up.

Berto and Vernon Paris are two of my favorite up and commers. I do see see a few things Berto needs to work on but I think he has the natural skill to get those things fixed.

After Zab disposes of Margarito, it will be Margarito who is the gate keeper.

I thnk he kills Cintron. I just dont think Cintron is very good. I think Margarito would be a good test for him but I think hes got what it takes to beat even that level of a fighter.
