I hope he is correct, after that abysmal performance in his last fight. I cannot stand Maskaev due to his constant procrastination of this fight.

you were meant to do that against mccline
i do hope he wins though
I'll be rooting for Peter, but he must show more determination and will.
091
he was exposed against wlad.
even if he dominates maskaev it tells us nothing.
maskaev will put up the best performance of his life in this fight! He knows that if he doesnt its over for him and will have no choice but to retire. I think that this fight will be harder for peter than he expects. I wouldnt be surprised if he loses.
If Peter comes in about 245 he's going to cruise over Maskaev. But if he's 255+ it will be tough if not a losing effort. Peter has the tendency to be lazy (as evidenced by being 6' tall and weighing as much as he does) in training, but I think he'll be more focused for this fight than he was for Toney II, especially how bad he looked in his last outing.
Well I will say that after this fight is over we'll either have Sam Peter a legit heavyweight champion or Sam Peter, David Izon wannabe.
Sam Peter is strong but he's unpolished and he has been overhyped....Wladimir had issues but because he is a polished fighter with good techinque he could overcome those issues....I worry about Sam Peter dealing with his shortcomings...unless he develops a good jab, defense, and/or headmovement then he's going to struggle vs guys that can box.
I think Wladimir will just stomp a mudhole in his ass if Sam Peter ever rematched him and I am not alone in thinking that.
Not really, Maskaev is only slightly taller than Peter and weighs at least 10 lbs less.
Plus he's demonstrated on several occasions that he is more than capable of being blown away with one or two power shots.
Oliver McCall blasted him out inside a round, Lance Whittaker and Kirk Johnson both took him out early and Tua also stopped him albiet late.
Corey Sanders knocked him out and then went on to lose his next 7 in a row.
Maskaev was the luckiest heavyweight around to even get another title shot against Rahman, I mean he had done absolutely nothing.
Since then he's managed one title defense, against a fighter that I doubt even El Gamo would have heard of, and it still went 12 rounds.
If Peter doesn't get him out of there inside 5 rounds then he's no longer to be considered a top 5 heavyweight in my opinion.
Dont know about a stoppage in 3 but Sam Peter should stop Maskaev around the half way mark.
I'll be happy if Maskaev can make it to the ring with hurting his back.
This really has the smell of a shoot out. Both have shown there fondness for the canvas.Maskaev just looks soooo hittable and beatable but somehow he pulls Out the wins...........Or gets KTFO In career.
Peter better "Box" him.Wonder how gun shy He will be.
Peter better come out swinging because Oleg can box. If Oleg doesn't get tired he can win by KO or UD...so Sam better put the pressure on him early and keep it on him hoping Oleg will wilt.
...this fight would have been more intresting if Vitali was back in action and taking on the winner
