Default The logic behind the Taylor/Pavlik clause?

Last night I was thinking to my self, WTF is up with this stupid clause?

What if Taylor get's beat down again? Where will he go?

Where will Kelly go if he wins?

I was 100% sure Kelly would win this fight but after watching the Q defeat the most feared man in boxing, I am not so sure anymore.

Anyway, the clause has me thinking and I can't get over what team Taylor is thinking other than Taylor is just having way too much trouble making weight and they think at 166 and above, he will be better. I remember how Cotto was becoming a dud at 140 and the move up helped.

I guess my questions will be answered Saturday night.

The only logic I can see is it helping him to transition, to see how he feels at a higher weight before going to full 168. I don't know? It has nothing to do in terms of helping him at 168 in that regard as he won't even be fighting at that specified weight, and it would have been better for him to fight a couple of nobodies like Mora and Manlaydo to establish how he feels higher weight wise. And look at Pavlik and tell me that stick-man isn't going to be stronger and have more power and stamina at 166; those 6 pounds for Pavlik I think will mean more for him than JT. Though I think Pav will win, it can't be a foregone conclusion and JT will be fighting gor everything. Maybe the clause is to help him focus more by NOT having to win his belt back, but simply to help him relax and fight for redemption. He better bring it though cause' that white boy aims to keep that belt for a while.

Well, the reason for the clause is that Taylor has problems making 160. The problem for Taylor is... Pavlik is taller and has just as big a frame as Taylor does, so the bump from 160 to 166 figures to help Pavlik every bit as much as it helps Taylor.

I think it's really a non-issue, since neither guy figures to gain an advantage from it.

Well I think Taylor put that clause in before the September fight, because he didn't think that he would lose to Pavlik. He would keep his title, and allow Pavlik a re-match, but with no title on the line, thus he would still have the title. To bad for Taylor, Pavlik had other plans, and took the title from Taylor.

I have no doubt that Pavlik with win once again, he has a bigger frame, and this increase in weight will benefit him more than Taylor.

And Danny, haven't you learned by now, that I know how to pick them. Quit be a Doubting Thomas.
