Default Re-Watched Peter Vs McCline and you know what?....

Re-Watched Peter Vs McCline last night on Showtimes special (They are airing all the best fights of 2007) You klnow what...For some reason I did not realize it so much the first time I watched it but that was a pretty damn good HW fight....They kept up a pretty fast pace and there were some big shots thrown in that bout by both guys.....Add the drama of Peter hitting the canvas 3 times and that was probably the best HW fight I have seen in a few years.....Showed MCline might have a little bit left at 37..(Not enough to win a title but enough for some decent fights).....Peter showed he has heart and perhaps a suspect chin....Any one agree on this being a good fight?

Yea your right.. I think it doesn't get recognized as a good fight because noone expecter McCline to drop Peter like that, I think most of the talk afterwards was about how Peter was overrated and shouldn't have had trouble with McCline etc. But your right, it was entertaining and McCline did well for himself in there.. I actually like McCline for some reason, he's kind of a Dominick Guinn type fighter who has the physical tools but doesn't have a strong mentality.. But he's a capable fighter who can be fun to watch for a HW.

You know the fights where you REALLY care who wins? That became one for me as soon as Peter hit the deck. I was on the edge of my seat from then on...

Definatly...In the first when Peter went down after looking at the replay it was a combination of him having his legs spread, being on the paint, McCline pushing with a left before he went down from the right upper, The ones in the second had him hurt though.....

McCline was once a good prospect and I thought he would do something but IMO Wlad ruined him mentally....McCline was dominated and never felt power like that before...His psyche was shattered

It was pretty good, but I for one was expecting Peter to take care of McCline, because he was coming off that knee injury. McCline is a good fighter though and showed some power. He was gassed after about the 6-7 round though, and Peter took over. I thought Peter showed some good heart in getting up 3 times, even though 2 of those he wasnt really hurt, more off balance. Cards were a bit wide I think a 2-3 point difference was possible max. One judge had it 117-110 or something...

Great fight, but I don't think Peter has a suspect chin so much as McCline may have suspect body chemistry. He was atypically aggressive, to say the least and brought the fight to Peter whereas in most other fights he was moreso content to lay back and throw pitty-pat shots. And regardless, look at McCline- don't you think he SHOULD be able to hit any heavy hard enough to rock him? I'd say it speaks more about Peter's recuperative abilities.

I agree about McCline...As big as he is and he is a hard puncher...not a Valuev or Fields type that has no steam...IMO McClines problem is mental....Sad part is how he performed in that bout is how he should have been performing all along and by now he would have been a world champion even if bfiefly....

As for Peters recoup ability it says a little but then again if you remember McCline also gassed a bit in the second and became arm weary...another fighter with a bit more stamina might have gotten Peter out of there

He knocked him down 3 times in 2 rounds. It wasn't for lack of trying.

McCline is a great athletic talent but I'm not sure I'd say he was mentally ruined by Wlad so much as he never really had the right mentality at all. He was terrified of Wlad in that fight from round one on, I'm not sure he ever really had the self confidence needed to be a great fighter. Maybe because he didn't have much of an amateur background (don't think he did at least) or because he was mainly a sparring partner for a while or whatever, I just don't think he ever really had it.

Well Sam Peter and Oleg Maskaev will put in a good performance in my opinion.....mainly because as BOXERS they are horrible and they NEED to brawl, it's just their styles.

Jameel McCline was screwed up mentally and psychologically in the Klitschko fight....the hype and crowd and the huge TV audience got to him....he got stage fright and was soooo tense the entire fight, it drained his energy.

I really liked Jameel's chances vs Valuev too bad about his knee. But I was highly skeptical of his performance against Sam Peter because he had never done that before

I think Sam Vs Oleg will be good for the first 5 rds...after that once Oleg gets tagged hard he will drop...Mainly because he is going to be rusty and the fact he has not even been touched by a legit punch let alone a power shot from peter in almost a year and a half

Well it SHOULD be balls to the wall from the get go....these guys just aren't good enough to play the "hit and don't be hit" game.

Watch Peter's chin too....Jameel McCline nearly KO'd him, Oleg is old but he still has some good pop in his punches...just ask Rahman!

Yeah, but Peter got wobbled by Klitschko's best punch whereas Rahman keeled over after emptying the tank and couldn't take what Maskaev dished out. Peter, as fat as he is, can fight a full 12, throwing hard shots and has developed some boxing ability. Maskaev's cinderella story is about to end.

I agree, I think that Peter is the only one who --> could<-- be able to defeat Klitschko........and Fantana of course
