In the upcomming Sports Illustrated boxing will get a great win with a beautiful 2 page spread on the fight this past weekend at MSG. Local renowned photographer Howard Schatz was ringside for the shoot.

I'll be interested to see what they say, since i'm sure they commited to the story before they knew what the result (from a casual fans view ) was going to be.

I've just read the article and man what a crock. If Wladimir actually let's his brother fight against the winner of Maskaev Peter.I am not going to watch boxing anymore until their out of the picture.Let me rephrase heavyweight boxing.bsolutely ridiculous.Wladimir all you have to say is NO Vitali I've busted my ass and I want to unify these belts. While you been sitting on your ass contemplating on being a politcian I was working hard in the gym to get my shot.SO F$&K OFF it's my turn.

Vitali would have still been champion had he not been hurt.

Wladimir has at LEAST 2 defenses before he gets another fight of his choosing

Pavlik was in SI a few weeks ago too. Nice to see SI having something boxing-related in their issue besides that idiotic "fight to save boxing" crap they published for Floyd-Oscar.

I always felt that boxing is just as alive as ever, its just that the media stopped covering it thus the casual fan stopped giving a dam. I mean there is still plenty of boxing happening, sometimes great sometimes not so great, so it can't be dead as is often proclaimed. Having said that it is always nice when boxing gets a few pages in general sports magazines like si, I read the pavlik article and it was rather good. I'm sure the next time I'm at the barber I'll end up reading this one...as for wladdy telling vitali to screw off I don't think he'd ever do that, and I do think he wants to unify but I also think he does want to fulfill their childhood dream of holding titles at the same time.

After the Klitschko/Ibragimov fight german tv interviewed Vitali and he stated that he will fight the winner of Maskaev/Peter...and if he wins Vitali and Wladimir will be the first brothers, who are HW champs at the same time...I think thats the main goal of the Klitschkos...

Wlad is the most physically gifted heavyweight since Lennox Lewis. He's got amazing size, great athleticism, brilliant boxing ability, a sledgehammer jab, and a MONSTER right hand. He's almost a prototype of what a true heavyweight champion should look like. But the one thing he doesn't have is heart. If he had just an ounce of what Evander Holyfield still has or even what his brother has, he'd be the savior of boxing right now. Glad he's in SI because it exposes boxing to the mainstream public but Wlad needs to hurry up and get KTFO so that he can stop wasting our time.

Yep, Wlad is still saying all the time that his ultimate goal is to have he and Vitali holding all the belts at the same time. If that can't happen, then Wlad wants to unify.

Wlad isn't going to get in the way of Vitali fighting the Peter/Masakev winner. Hopefully Peter can beat Maskaev and then beat Vitali. Then we'd at least have a chance at Wlad-Peter II in 2009, and we could have one undisputed heavyweight champ.

boxing should have a tag team division...klitschkos could own the shit out of it, have wladdy soften up the oponent with the jab for 4 or 5 rounds then have vitali go in and come out slinging and finish the job...Sweet pea if vitali is anywhere near his old self, which is doubtful considering he's been out 3 plus years, I just don't see sam beating him. Other than youth I'm not sure sam has anything on him, vitali isn't going to fight scarred and he will try to finish sam if he gets him in trouble. that's the difference between him and wladdy, he can eat a couple bombs and not worry to much about getting knocked out himself, question is can sam still eat em?
