Default Toney Vs. Littles.....What a finish

Alot of you have seen this but I could watch this one over and over.Toney was on a nice role and looking better than ever ,Capping Pre Jones run off with Classic Ko of Prince Charles Williams.

This was a pretty heated couple of rounds with undefeated Littles coming in and going balz out for an upset. He was catching Toney with whipping lefts....watch that Allen green-esque look to the canvas Toney does after getting tagged,Never really noticed those originaly.Littles never stops trying

HUGE gash and high drama between rounds (wish they included that) with Dr.threating to stop it and toney closes show like a champ.Merchant compared it to Turpin vs. Robinson 2

Thank you for reminding me how talented a trim, motivated and seasoned James Toney was in his prime. What an excellent fighter he was, and that cut looked bad, he did not usually suffer problems from cuts. The sharp right hand is his best punch but that left hook before the right had Littles in trouble. Brutal finish. He would bust up Pavlik.

Toney was a bad bad man.

    1. What is with the star of David looking thing?
    2. What do you think of this Toney vs. Calzaghe of today?

That was a great fight, one of toney's finest displays..

You seen the guy, littles was game..undefeated and young, he could catch toney a bit.. Toney always was relaxed in there.

He just had such skills, and i love to see him use his skills, but he was always a boxer puncher, let it be known he would say i hate boxers, im not a boxer..

he fights, hes a puncher and he counters well but always gets right into the fight.. and the littles fight just showed you when he had to turn it on it was there and he could just get rid of a guy like that..

they say at the start of the fight toney say he could tell in the first round whether he could knock a guy out, or if hewas gona have to go the long haul.. and toney never rushed into big mistakes but he knew he could knock the guy out and when that cut came ( Hell of a cut .. anyone see in one of the breaks between rounds it literally spurts and goes over his eyelids.. Rank! )
then he just put up the pace and it had to be done there and then..

Young toney had unlimited potential and talent, very underrated, he was p4p big time before he slipped..

Hes done great since, not quite how it could have gone though..

Just like the bronx tale.. saddest thing on the earth is wasted talent

That was an awesome display. How much time do you think PBF spent studying James Toney tapes to learn the shoulder roll/right uppercut counter? I can't think of any two people who can do that better.

One of my favorite Toney fights

One of those fights where you really needed to see it live cause of the cut issues and not knowing if it would get stopped or not

That version of Toney would give Joe all he could handle, but I can see Joe winning a decision. Joe would be a matchup problem for Toney, much like Roy Jones was a matchup problem for him. Toney was troubled by Jones handspeed and pretty much got owned in that fight. I don't rate a prime Joe C as good as a prime Roy Jones - not quite as fast and doesn't have the power, but I thinking Calzaghe's speed would allow him to cause Toney to have problems getting his punches off. Toney is at his best when he can counter, and it would be very hard (though not impossible) to consistantly burn Joe with counters. Wouldn't have chance in hell to hurt Toney, but his speed and workrate might win him a close decision. I can see Toney landing the cleaner and more effective punches, but lossing because Joe's combos look good the judges.

Yes I agree Joe could pull the victory because of the styles, but it would be very close and Toney right hand could hurt Joe.

Didn't Toney threaten Kallen with a gun.

Saw an opponent call out Toney who was in the crowd, and he went into the ring and got the mike and said "lets go" the other guy was crapping himself.

    Tell me about it.....
I kept saying to my uncle why haven't they stopped it he said (A huge Toney fan to this day):
"Shut up, and let them fight he can still see"
Not a sound came out from my mouth for the rest of that fight.

That shit was priceless.I want to say it was Tyrone Trice ?? when He was supposed to fight Mcclellan and Trice got all puffed up with the mike in the ring saying Gerald "Had heart problems tonight".......dumbass should color himself lucky.Toney called his bluff and said something about knocking that bis ass mole off Trice's face, Classic Toney smacktalk Lol

Toney v Littles was a good fight.

Littles looked good early on, he had power and he connected on James a number of times.

The difference in the fight for me was primarily down to chins. James Toney has a great chin, Littles didn't. End of!

But I f one were to search further you could see early that mentally in terms of preparation, Toney was in a different place. James was the complete professional at that time, with a menatlity to match. Littles was the young upstart, unfoetunately with a mentality to match. He had the correct physical make up, but his mind let him down.
