Punch Power: 7437 | | Re: Preview; Matthew Macklin vs Ramon Yori Boy Campas. The fact that Yory Boy is fighting 1 month after he's been BADLY TKO'd by Amin tells me a few things.
1. Yory Boys just trying to make a living now.
2. He's become a gate keeper.
3. He needs to retire before he's serisouly hurt.

Punch Power: 5895 | | Re: Preview; Matthew Macklin vs Ramon Yori Boy Campas. I'm flying to Dublin from Galway, why would I fly a 30 minute flight?
Because some of the fighters are on the plane
Staying in the North Circular Road, 10 minutes above the South Circular Road and the National stadium. (The accomodation beside the stadium is notoriously poor. I stayed there for some amateur bouts, they're terrible!)
Was hoping Buddy McGirt would be there, but he's probably with Tarver right now.
Still, Bernard Dunne should be there, as well as Duddy, Carruth, Cruz-Hernandez and a few others. |

Punch Power: 5895 | | Re: What a Night; Macklin vs Campas. With Pics n Vid Dublin's National Boxing Stadium was the venue. The word's first venue dediaed to our noble sport, built way back in the 30's was scrubbed up well for an immensely enjoyable night of boxing.... |

Punch Power: 5895 | | Re: What a Night; Macklin vs Campas. With Pics n Vid The first bout of note was the professional debut of popular local Ian Timms. This Cruiserweight enjoyed a warm reception and plenty of encouragement on his debut in which he scored a Points decision over four against opponent Klaids Kristapasons. Although commonly viewed as a "jobber" Kristapasons showed up to fight and attempted the upset. Timms, still demonstrating some amateur traits dealt with him howeer over the four rounds..... |

Punch Power: 5895 | | Re: What a Night; Macklin vs Campas. With Pics n Vid ollowing the Timms win I felt it was time to approach a man who knows the Irish boxing game inside out. Jim Rock was attending on belhalf of RTE. The former Light Middleweight, Middleweight ans Super Middleweight Irish Champion was on hand to discuss his own career, the fights on the night and all related to boxing.
Meting Jim again confirmed he's a gentleman who knows his boxing.
Apoloies for the dopey photo but Jim had me laughing my head of as the photo was taken |

Punch Power: 5895 | | Re: What a Night; Macklin vs Campas. With Pics n Vid In a change to the schedule, Andrew Murrays bout was drawn forward. This exciting Light Welter was due to face James Gorman, but in yet aother change was opposed by England's Leonard Lothian.
This highly entertaining scrap was stopped in the 3rd with Lothian failing to leave his corner for the fourth round.
Murray improves to 10-0-0 with 4 Ko's and impressed many in attendance. Murray fight1.jpg Murray2.jpg Murray3.jpg Murray5.jpg Murray6.jpg |

Punch Power: 5895 | | Re: What a Night; Macklin vs Campas. With Pics n Vid In Perhaps the most interesting bout of the night, hot prospect "Mike" Perez faced off against Tomasz Zeprzalka.
There are a number of potent ingredients which contribute to the marketability of this young man. The first is his weight; Heavyweight, in addition he is Cuban; and a highly succesful amateur, now trained by Nicolas Cruz Hernandez.
Having adopted Cork, Ireland as his home, this youing man is extremely popular already and hype already surrounds his presence. His extremely lean frame, stands below the six foot mark and in contrast to his ring persona, in conversation Perez is a very modest, amiable young man.
In the ring, he uses his size as a small heavy to operate in a slick defence and he systematically beat the much larger Pole, putting him to the canvas several times on route to a casual points victory. |

Punch Power: 5895 | | Re: What a Night; Macklin vs Campas. With Pics n Vid Circling the ringside area once again I encountered one of Ireland's premier pugilistic talents in Bernard Dunne.
Promising a sucesful comeback on April 12th and being extremely accomodating to all questions put to him, Bernard is a guy that deserves all of the fan support and prootion he receives, a truely nice guy. |

Punch Power: 5895 | | Re: What a Night; Macklin vs Campas. With Pics n Vid After this Photo, Bernard like a true boxing fan cheered on a gym compatriot, Leon Senior to his second victory.
Baring more than a passing resemblance to current Middleweight King Kelly Pavlik, this Light Heavyweight (listed as a SuperMiddleweight on boxrec.) showed flashes of work which illustrated the potential to produce a good craftsman. Senior6.jpg Senior12.jpg Senior9.jpg | |
