Post Were the Penitentiary films about boxing?

I've just had a very vague memory about a series of films called Penitentiary, I think starring Mr T, were they about boxing or have I remembered it wrong and also were they any good?

Leon Issac Kennedy was the star of the series...Mr T was in one of them...two or 3 cant remember...they were a bit cheesey when you see them now but at the time they were pretty good...They came at the tail end of the blacksploitation films....Shaft, Superfly etc

Superfly was badass. I loved that f@ckin movie. Wonder what happen to the dude who played him, I dont remember ever seeing him in anything else. Then again he was no Marlon Brando.

Looks like a young Floyd Sr. So it was really Mr. T who ended his boxing career

Yeah I loved Superfly...He was a badass Pimp and Drug Dealer...The guy who played him was Ron O'Neal...He was also in Original Gangstas with Jim Brown and Richard Rountree (Shaft)...Also he was in Red Dawn as the head guy of the Russians or Cubas what ever they were...He dies of Cancer a few years ago...

    He Ain't Just Fly...He's Superfly!!!!
