Default Hopkins needs to knock Calzaghe out

As good as and as tricky as Hopkins has been, I can't see him outboxing Calzaghe. Hopkins may be more accurate, but I think the volume of punches that Calzaghe will throw will be the deciding factor, unless Hopkins can stop him or knock him out. Calzaghe's chin is not exactly granite, but Hopkins isn't a massive puncher either. Calzaghe for me on points (as long as his jab is tip-top).

I don't think Hopkins has to win by KO. However, I do think he needs at the very least to hurt Calzaghe with a big punch to get respect and lower Calzaghe's activity level.

Wright by saying calzaghes chin isn't granite you're implying his chin isn't all that good, when arguably he has one of the best chins of the past decade.

Calzaghe has a fantastic chin as many mentioned already.

Anytime Calzaghe has been knocked down or staggered it has been as a result of a balance problem, a slip or in one case bad judgement.

However, the important thing to note is that when knocked down Calzaghe never looked dazed or hurt. In fact the most hurt he has ever looked is aginst Kessler and he just adjusted to outwork Mikkel.

Calzaghe has a proper solid chin but when he got up from the Mitchell knockdown his eyes were all over the shop, he had an expression on his face that said "what the fuck happened"

Salems knockdown was much less but Calzaghe shut his eyes on the way down so definitely felt it.

Agreed - after the Byron Mitchell knockdown Calzaghe was doollally. Didn't know where he was.

I thought itwasn't actual damage, I thought it was more confusion and surprise, but thats an opinion not a fact.

Yes, nobody is getting KO'ed in this one. Its most likely a decision. I can only see it going one way though and that is a Calzaghe win. There is the possibility that BHop struggles with what Joe is gonna do out there and gets TKO'ed.

i really do hope hopkins doesn't get ko'd, its just not right for calzaghe to be the one to knock him out, joes not done enough to have that on his record.............. i can't see hopkins knocking out calzaghe, he hasn't been that type of k.o fighter that would stop someone with joes chin. i hope i'm wrong and b-hop takes him out but it looks like he'll have to win over 12 rounds and make joe miss and make him pay

I don't think Bhop needs the ko to win. It is unlikely he will get a ko anyway. I think Bhop needs to maul Joe to win. It has to be inside, close quarters, lots of pushing, etc.. to wear joe down.

Joe does have a huge work rate though and is unlikely to be worn down. I have only seen 4 of his fights but he throws alot of punches and Bhop doesn't.

Bhop was throwing like 7 punches a round in the early going of the Taylor fight. Although I felt like Bhop beat up on Taylor, I find it hard to award a decision to Bhop. He didn't look like he wanted to win and especially in the second fight. I feel this will be similar. Joe may look the worse for wear and taken more damage, but will win the decision on his workrate.

If there's a stoppage it would be a tko not a ko. Just don't see either guy putting the other guy to sleep. Let's just hope that if there's a flurry that's not doing any damage there's not an early stoppage like against Manfredo.

.. . But seconds later he won by K.O . Just like Tito , that KD seemed to wake him up and once it landed he was like a monster . Maybe the worst thing Hopkins can do is shake Joe up . He just has to fiddle him around . Just like everyone else on this thread I cant see Hopkins stopping him at all.
