I must admit I didnt expect much when I saw a bunch of old out of shape cab drivers. I even took the piss out of it for the 1st 4 fights wondering why the tv people were biggin it up. But then I was hooked in the final . We werent watching anything talented in the league of PBF but it was a thouroughly entertaining final and Im glad the right man won . Couldnt understand why the bookies made that kid such a big favourite against the grizzled Irish man . Great fight

Rogan said in the interview after that he is no Muhammed Ali . That he certainly isnt but the level of passion he showed wasnt far off . Well done Paddy !!!

I thought it was a great tournament, didn't get how one of the judges only had Rogan winning by 1 point seeing as he dropped your man 2 out of the 3 rounds. still great entertainment value!

yeah with 2 10-8 rounds the best Dolan could hope for was 29-26 assuming he won round 2.

Proof that judges dont stick to the rules and they can just make up any scorecard they want .

I just posted this somewhere else, then realised that I should have put it on this thread!!

I must admit that I had mixed feelings about this. Having all the fights on the same night made it sound like a bit of a circus and I thought that there is more chance of getting seriously hurt by a hevyweight if a) you are not very good and b) if you are already tired.

I also thought some of the fighters were very poor indeed, especially some of the first round losers. It really is true to say that the depth of talent in British heavyweights rarely extends below the top three at any given time.

Having said that, it gave the guys the chance of a decent payday.

Barry Hearn is a robbing cunt though, as only the winner got paid anything ..... so he put the show on, paid the winner £25k, charged for tickets and beer and also sold the TV rights ........ no wonder he was grinning all night.

Most of the fights were pretty entertaining, even if half the guys couldn't actually box. The three round format suited most of them actually. I thought Rogan came out a worthy winner as he was a real 3 round scrapper with a good heart and he interviewed well. Good luck to him, shame he is 36 already and probably would tire out after the 6th in a normal fight. He leads with his face, but he'd sell tickets anywhere .... good luck to him.

Dolan has been touted as a prospect for some time, and I remember seeing him a lot as am amateur. He's not a David Haye. He has good well-schooled boxing skills, but to me he lacks power, he is not that exciting to watch and he is way too small to ever make it as a heavyweight. He also came over as either brain-dead or an arrogant arsehole in his interviews.

I watched it and technically it was like a pub fight but for entertainment you can't knock it!!!
The missus and her kids stayed up and were glued to it till the end
I'm a purist so on the whole it was SHIT for me but i can see the appeal and it's gotta be a good thing if it gets even more people into the fight game which imo is absolutely rocking at present

Watched it in the pub and a lot of people were watching that normally wouldn't have, though I am in Sunderland so maybe they were more interested because Dolan was involved. I was actually hoping that Rogan won the final because I don't think much of Dolan, who is a total prick as a human being. Definitely entertaining, hopefully they'll do the same thing with the other divisions.

Did nobody apart from the winner get paid for this? Surely they must have made a few quid ?

This isn't true about the pay dude. The Winner got £25,000, runner up got £10,000, semi finalists 7,000 and the losing quarter finalists got £3,000. Even the wild cards got £2,000 and they didn't even fight!!

Hearn is a good guy. Really seems to give a shit. He plans to hold more tournaments at Light-Heavy, Middle, Welter, Light and possibly Feather.

The MC Barry Hearn uses is the worst guy ever. He's like a competent MC who's had a few drinks.
