Default AJ Banal to face winner of Kirilov v Darchinyan

And to be honest with you,Bazooka KTFO them both out. Too powerful. Straight punches. EXCELLENT jab,it's like Cotto's,it's a jab but it's as hard as a straight right hand. Nice counter punching skills.

Obviously I'm not sure about his chin and he can move around robotically at times but I think he hits too hard for both those guys. The fights involving these guys are going to be exciting for sure!

Great news for AJ. I've read the article of it. ALA is eyeing on Kirilov. Both Banal and Kirilov are Freddie Roach's boys though. Which side will he pick if these two face each other? My guess is Kirilov.

Alexander John Banal is only 19. He's got good speed and power. I've seen most of his fights and he's amazing. But the question is, does he know how to lose? I've never seen him in trouble before. Two weeks ago, I was expecting him to get rocked and cut when he fought the hot undefeated fellow prospect Herrera. Nobody gave him the real test yet. Will he be the next pinoy superstar like the pacman?.. or just another Rey Bautista? What if he gets cut in the eye and partially blinded?.. will he keep fighting the same pace or get discourage, and lose his spirit?

But you're right Gamo. Banal's chin and heart never really put to a test yet. But then I guess that's very typical among the prospects.

I'm not sure about AJ yet. I've seen lots of good pinoy boxers with big punch and a decent style but went out with one good shot to the chin. I might be wrong but AJ somehow gives me that impression also... I think I saw a better potential in that pinoy vs. the world fights. Guess who?

boom2x is still young and still has the tools to be a filipino boxing superstar. his chin showed weakness but its against pdl who is a known heavy puncher. i believe that his manager was greedy and fed boom2x to the lions too early in his career.

No matter how Bautista prepare his chin with a good neck and jaw exercise,.. HE WILL NEVER POSSES THE KIND OF CHIN LIKE PAC HAS. It's genetic bro.

No not boomx2... He's a new guy and that was the first time I saw him. He was a perfectly balanced fighter - aggressive, tough, with pretty big punch and most of all, had an excellent jab. With good training, he should be a mean fighting machine. Of course it's too early to say. We need to see him couple more times to be sure. All I can say is that I liked him even when I've just seen him once, and I'm very hard to please.

The big thing with AJ is the jab, that sets him apart and makes a WORLD of difference. It disguises his power shots, confuses opponents and looks hurtful. Good fighter.

I think both fights will be difficult for Banal at this stage of his career. He does have a great jab but he's never fought anyone with the sort of experience both Kirilov & Darchinyan have. I not saying he can't win but he should be tested against a top 15-20 guy before stepping through the ropes with those two

Pac got KO'd in his early career too. So obviously chins can improve. Although I don't think Bautista's will, Pacquiao has been KO'd before so he's not some superman who's had an iron jaw since birth.

Anyways, to the topic, after seeing Banal I think he is one of the better prospects in boxing, the hype is true and it's amazing to me that he's only 19. There are few things better then a good southpaw and that's what Bazooka is.

One trait prospects always seem to have is the lack of poise, whether it be the way Amir Khan gets overexcited in his fights or the way McGirt Jr. last not was not able able to stay composed after getting hurt, not knowing to clinch. It's something that goes away eventually for the good ones and Banal 90. Maybe it comes from all the high profile sparring with Pacquiao and others on the GBP roster, but he is very calm in the ring. He wastes no movement and he never lets an opportunity to score slip. A straight jab sets up his offense and his left hand is textbook, no looping, chopping or overextension and it always catches opponents at the end of the punch. He never falls in with the left, always balanced ready to punch or move out. Short quick steps give him an excellent feel for distance and he holds his hands high as part of a good defense.

I agree Sal, I think Banal beats both of them. Maybe Darchinyan can land a bomb and test the chin but for one, I think Kirilov beats the duck Darchinyan, and two even if Darchinyan wins I don't think he could catch Banal and we would be seeing a replay of the Donaire KO.

Big things from Banal, a big fight with him and Nonito is going to happen one day down the line because they are both the real deal.

bro pac has been knocked down (due to him running into a punch, those were years ago though) but his knock out loses were from body shots and semi low blows.

About Banal, the training he did in puerto rico with oscar sure help him a lot. his only 19 oscar was taking him under his wings. I like the way his been carrying himself. Most of the team filipino carry themselves like pro's that they are, but a.j is special even in the ring its suprising his only 19.

Not to turn this thread about Pac but do you think if Pac got hit with the same punches today that he falls down?

i highly doubt it, the last punch that knock him down was from hussien husseins jab.

That was my point, his chin is improved. Meaning it's not out of question for Bautista to come back with a better chin but like I said this is off topic.
