as much as i want to have kids, and be a dad and start a family, i have trouble mentally supporting it.. cause it's like, why am i going to force someone else to go through this "pointless" cycle..

I cannot reconcile myself to the idea of believing in something for which we have no evidence for. The concept of organised religion is something I find personally quite unusual. I respect all people who have faith though and would never try to interfere in that, but its something I dont have and its something that I dont really need anyway.

I dont think every achievement is automatically irrelevant after one dies. After all we still read Shakespeare and Dickens, but I do agree that our ability to actually accomplish anything beyond death is probably not very much at all.

On the point of becoming a parent, I certainly have those doubts too. I dont recall being a particularly happy child, and I did sometimes, and very meanly say to my Mum as a kid "I hate you, I never asked to be born". Those are horrible words and of course my Mum isnt a bad person by any means. But the world is an uncertain and oftentimes quite unpleasant place. I dont think I would be comfortable becoming a father if I wasnt in a position to ensure that the child never had any of the discomforts that I had. And with the worlds population getting mad, and global warming possibly leading to serious food shortages...what type of person would want their child to inherit the world that seems to be on the horizon? That would be quite selfish. Im full of conflict about the issue of having a child.
