On Friday night Carson Jones went from journeyman to prospect, with an impressive lopsided decision win over Jose Luis Gonzales on ESPN2’S “Friday Night Fights” telecast from the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, OK.

Jones dominated Gonzales, using angles and quick combinations to keep his opponent at bay for much of the night. The final tallies of 98-92, 98-92 and 100-90 earned Jones the NABA crown.

I'm happy for Jones, he was badly mismanaged early in his career, put in the ring with a seasoned Alfonzo Gomez at 18 years old. But he's gotten better and that's a hard thing to do with a record like that. I'm happy he got a shot on TV, made the most of it and I hope he gets Lohoullier.
