Default Would Hatton have beaten Forbes on Saturday?

I just posted that Floyd wouldnt have stopped Forbes either on Saturday so we neednt be too harsh on Oscar as the only guy I think could have stopped Steve was Cotto and thats only a maybe .

Then it got me thinking , how would have Hatton handled Steve . I know Steves has good speed and a great chin cuz he took alot from De La Hoya . I dont think Ricky would have lasted 12 with Oscar .

Forbes given the right superfight infront of him may be able to score a great win . As Ive said I think Cotto would have him , so would Floyd . Mosley would too and Oscar already has but Ricky Hatton is 1 high profile fighter Forbes might be able to beat

What do you think ? Consensus guys ?

Hatton by UD, it's all about workrate. Forbes is pretty slick has good eyes and good defense, but he's a tad trigger shy. Even if he blocked everything Hatton threw, the judges would have to go with Hatton for effective aggression because Forbes would be hardly throwing anything back.

I thought Hatton on points but wouldnt it be just like the Colazzo fight. If Hatton has any more close 1s I dont think he will get any favours off the judges now. Magee wasnt known as a particularly hard hitter but he gave Hatton nightmares with his speed. I just think if Forbes had a pick of a superfight with a realistic chance he should go for Ricky . Zab Judah is a another big name I think Forbes might beat . Hes there for the taking IMO .

Intersting fight certainly.. And would be good to see Forbes in another high profile fight where he isn't a pawn. Guess I'd have to agree with the other posters that a Hatton UD is most likely due to Ricky outworking Forbes, however if Stevie fought more of a hit and run fight and tried to potshot Hatton he may fair better. I can't really say as I guess I've never seen Hatton against a good opponent who employed that tactic.. Mayweather and Collazo both stayed in the pocket with him for the most part, or at least did the most damage inside. If Hatton fights Malignaggi and is able to consistently cut off the ring and do good work I'd have to give Forbes very little chance. Do think that Paulie will give Hatton a ton of problems if they fight though, especially if Hatton can't get into top form anymore, he may really struggle with slick boxers, even less than elite level ones.

Considering Forbes has been used by Hatton as a sparring partner.. if they ever fight put your HOUSE on Hatton

I don't agree that it would be like the Collazo fight because Luiz is a southpaw and works from the jab much more than Forbes, plus Luis is naturally bigger.

Forbes, because Hatton's only in it for the money! Which is why he will not fight Witter

What fighter isn't in it for the money?

Why do you think Witter wants to fight Hatton? For Pride?

but why exactly would an established champion like hatton opt to fight a steve forbes when their are much bigger paydays out there for much easier work!!

I give lazcano slim to none to beat hatton, i give malinaggi a fighters chance but no more than that and i expect that hatton will stop him late on.

As for steve forbes vs ricky hatton = a hard fought grinding UD for hatton that offers nothing but more questions about whether he is now a spent force and should consider hanging up his gloves.

Hatton would decision Forbes. He's too fast and relentless and Forbes just doesn't throw enough or have the power to keep Hatton off of him.

I'd be interested to hear why you think Hatton could stop Malignaggi when Cotto couldn't?

It's not as if Hatton has an endless number of big paydays to choose from though.. 140 is actually a pretty scarce division at the moment. I also wouldn't be surprised if based solely on his fight against Oscar this weekend, Forbes brought a bigger payday to the table than anyone else at 140 besides Ricky. I mean Malignaggi has very little drawing power that I'm aware of, he easily could have lost his last fight on top of that, Witter is obviously far to unknown for Hatton to consider fighting(), doesn't leave many other options. Stevie Forbes would have been a much better fight than Lazcano, surely you'd have to agree there?
