Jones started slower than a 50 year old Massey Ferguson on a frosty morning.

I think this ekes it for ricky. Ricky could take it out of him early to the body and he could defend against Jones' monster power using tactics similar to that against Tszyu.

Jones power was awesome, but Ricky's a tough cookie himself and better conditioned I feel.

Jones was no slow starter, had lots of early wins against good opposition was also one of the best conditioned fighters of the time.

I thought his early wins were more to do with his crazy power.
Honestly I just got the impression that he started fights slow and built up, like an express train.

And as for conditioning. At his peak a couple of years ago, Ricky has the edge.

    You're thinking of Colin Lynes.

Colin Jones was a monster hitter at Welter in the 80's

Did Collin Jones fight at light welter?

At Welter I think he would have won because I do not think Hatton can use his strength as he does at the lower weight. So Collin Jones stops him in a brutal and exciting fight.

He lost to Donald Curry but no shame there.

He drew and lost to Milton McCrory for the world title.

He beat Kirland Laing twice by 9th round KO, he had a big left hook that flattened him. Laing went on to beat Duran a couple of years later so he was very good just unlucky not to win the title against McCrory.
