So whats been happening since i've been inactive ?? anyway just wanted to say i've been really busy recently, i had my 3rd amateur bout, and i won but i had rough time and i was hurt in the 1st round, and had to use survival tactics to survive, i was up against this awkward Southpaw and he gave me some problems with his Southpaw right hook, but i managed to get myself together in the 2nd round and once i got over the early onslaught, i did a lot better, what was surprising is that he was countering my jab with right hooks from unorthodox angles which i have never experienced before, i am normally an outside fighter but because he was tall and had a longer reach and he took away my jab, i was forced to fight on the inside, i worked his body and kept my head moving, it was a good learning experience and im just happy i got over the 1st round disaster, but anyway any good boxing news guys ??

I notice as a southpaw if I throw my jab upwards a little against an opponent it tends to allow my shoulder to block any hook that would hit me cleanly, and so the shots that would land would catch me off the top of the head which especially with headgear usually doesn't do much damage. One thing at least for me as a southpaw is its more awkward coming forward as a southpaw, and sometimes its good to use movement and counter while a taller opponent comes in, and obviously stay conscious of maintaining that lateral movement.

As for boxing news besides Witter losing I don't know how long you've been away.

It's actually good you got hurt in barely your 3rd fight. A fighter will never go his whole life without being hurt. It's good for you to experience it early. It won't be a shock if it happens to you again. Glad you won.

Good for you. Southy hey! You know you can turn and face a hook that comes over your jab by keeping your jab out stiff and you can then walk through that same way (opening him up) while attacking up his centreline with your stronger rear arm.Takes balls but it works,you just have to be in first to beat him to the draw with your free rear hand which if you are bodily passing through his centre line, facing his first point of contact, it means you have yourself covered and him outranged (your right against his left) for that instant. Turning bodily into the hook stops it from getting around your extended arm and opens him up if you move that same way.You have contact so you have control of his balance point if he wants to push it.
Then you move in on his reaction cause he will be looking for balance cause you opened him up with your whole movement or he 'll look to get set again at the very least ,so you move in on him as he does. Practice it with a mate or sparring partner for a while at least he wont continue to do it, if exposed earlier next time.(Turn walk and throw a bomb right up the pipe all at once ,both your arms are out there but they are both doing things and your moving weight and a hip in behind the shot as your moving your head out of range of his free arm. Takes practice cause your natural reaction is to retract that jab but its already out there so let it work but just turning slightly and bang .


You could even bounce a left hook or a cross off the inside of his hook if you react or prefer to cover up tight to your head or if he forces the issue on that side.You just gotta watch that rear arm is all and check it comming or beat him to the draw with it safley.

Thanks fellas appreciate it that guy was just a terrible style match up, he was awkward as hell and i like to think of myself as a text book fighter, but everything he done was totally unorthodox and i had never come up against anything like that before.
