i still think he and Billy are a good team mate what they have done has worked succesfully all through his career and to change stuff now would be mad IMO... there is a secont trainer there i think but the body belt sessions have become part of his ritual.
he got beat by the better guy last time out simple as that and there is no shame in losing to Mayweather.
Too late for change IMO |

Too late for change IMO | You see here I have mixed feelings.
For a long time I've wondered about the natural talent : Trainer ratio that was involved in forging Hatton. In this instance I see Graham availing of Ricky's natural physicality and stamina in order to win fights, so I hasve to say that the wins are down to Ricky's gene's.
As for the change issue, now is the time he has to change. MAB elongated his career by boxing, now Hatton needs to.
Graham hasn't brought Hatton on any in 4 years |

Graham hasn't brought Hatton on any in 4 years | is that not because the level he has been fighting is top
look at Naz he was 7 when he started to train with Brendan Ingle they had a bond... then the split come and Naz went with one of the best trainers in the game Manny Stweard.
he tried to work on making Naz more conventional and it fucked up what made him great his unpredictabillity of where the shots where coming from and where he would be to hit etc.
sometimes teamwork finds a jell and become succesful because of it.... Hatton might have lernt the game in a whole different way without Billy and it might not have had half the success
hes said hes got 3 fights left and i just think its too late to start messing about with what got him to the top in the first place.

hes said hes got 3 fights left and i just think its too late to start messing about whith what got him to the top in the first place. | Well thats debatable.
From my pooint of view Graham has utilised the same strategy for everyone that was tailor made for Tszyu, he adapted slightly for Urango and that worked very well.
I'll be 100% honest here. If Graham approached me tomorrow and said that he would train me for free, I'd decline. Honestly.
Macklin left him because he prevented him from using whatever skill he has and I feel he's doing the same with Ricky as he's fallen in love with the marauding full on style.
Now whilst I agree a late change is not wise, I think it will be regretted that he didn't change at an earlier stage, to save himself from wear and tear. |

Too late for change IMO | I absolutely agree wit this post wat graham has done with hatton is a credit to his boxing potential.
The only thing in my opinion hatton can do is to keeep is weight down and fittness up in between fights. I beleive hatton is a good fighter he woudnt have gone undeafeated for so long if he wasnt but mayweather was just the better boxer. Now lets see (mayweather vs cotto) |

Sorry I'm muddled?
As for the issue with weight and fitness outside of camp. Greaham has bought Hatton beer and chips since he was 17. |

Punch Power: 1017 | | Re: Ricky Hatton Puts On Boxing Display At Phoenix Camp In Manchester welcome to the forum 00lambeths
and Donny mate i think we are on the same page mate i don't think Billy is a great trainer but what he teaches has worked well with Hatton but not with others and visa versa
About 6 years ago Spencer Oliver ((the omen)) got a gig on Sky TV traveling Gyms and he critisised billys gym on sky the jumping the bar etc and they werent to Happy.
what im saying is it is prob better the way hatton is ballooning between fights and all that they found a successful nich together
but maybe you are right about a change before to a trainer that would work out a tactic better than hittin getting in close and tying up and hitting but i guess we will never know...
but lets remember Hatton is a millionaire so Billy has done something right |

Hope he impresses against Lazcano. |

Everyone knows I'm a huge 'Billy Fan' -but I'm also pretty 'fair' and it doesn't matter how much I like someone - if I think they've done wrong, I'll say so. But, I can't see anything wrong with Team 'Billy-Ricky'. I know this is a bit of an obvious statement but Rick just suffered his first defeat and now everyone wants to blame the trainer for it. Billy can train Rick and give him all the advice in the world - but it's Ricky that gets in the ring and we all know that Rick (by his own admission) doesn't always stick to the plan. But lets face it - they haven't done too bad so far have they? |
