Punch Power: 193 | | Cherry v Johnston - WNF Edner Cherry seems to be on the up, Johnson on the way down, think is quite an evenly matched contest, who you going for? |

Punch Power: 281 | | Re: Cherry v Johnson an interesting match up I think Cherry is a pretty good fighter who isn't quite good enough to make waves at world class, Johnson is beyond finished. Not an even matchup if you ask me.

Punch Power: 963 | | Re: Cherry v Johnson an interesting match up I think Cherry is a very underrated fighter who was in tough pretty early. He is a warrior though and fights anyone. He did get schooled kind of by Paulie but he was a good shot away from having Paulie flopping around the ring. Paulie was as usual on the backfoot and frustrated him. I don't think Stevie can pull that off, he is 35+ and Cherry hits pretty hard when he can catch ya. Edner is gonna drop a Cherry bomb on Johnston and this will be a little more one sided than it looks on paper. Thats just my opinion, I've been known to be wrong....This matchup sucks because I don't want to see either guy lose.

Since you brought it up I boxrec'ed his last few opponents. Better than average is not really the way I'd label them. The 3 he beat are basically unknown, not quite even journeyman level, who have been KO'ed by anyone good they ever fought. And he was dropped twice than retired against Rolando Reyes, who is a garbage, nothing fighter himself. |

Yeah this is a mismatch. Cherry is an awesome fighter, one of my favorites to. His bout with Santa Cruz was an all action fight, outstanding bout I think it was on the undercard of the dreadful Castillo-Reyes bill. Great fight and Cherry got done wrong by the judges I've rooted for him ever since.
But yeah Johnston is well past his best days, he looked absolutely horrible against Vivian Harris. Granted he was a late sub but looked bad nonetheless. Haven't seen him since I hate to see him still fighting. |

A complete journeyman with equal wins to losses would be considered as average, he is a little better than this but not much. He has beaten a string of nobodies and lost every time he has stepped out of his depth |

Fought a bunch of 0-3-2 type guys in Nicaragua, came to the States got stopped in 3 by Humberto Soto, then lost a UD to a shot Stevie Johnston, then got startched in a round by Lamont Peterson, who is a great prospect, but no big puncher. This fight only looks good on paper, trust me. Cherry is actuallya very good, hungry fighter. Perhaps you don't realize this. |
