Is GBP Promotions taking care of its boxers?

In the recent Casamayor-Campbell purse bid, GBP placed a low bid of $571,000 as against to the $1,220,000 winning bid of Don King.

Considering GBP's bid amount and a 50/50 purse split, GBP is only offering a purse of $285,500 for their star lightweight boxer, the Ring and Linear Champion, Joel Casamayor... I think this is a measly sum for Casamayor for a championship fight with Nate Campbell... (Consider this, David Diaz will be receiving $800,000 for the Pacquiao fight).

Good thing it's Don King Promotions who won the bid... Bad thing is this fight is not yet guaranteed to happen... Casamayor will probably snub the $610,000 offer from Don King and fight Juan Diaz or JMM instead...

GBP is only good in pirating and signing up star boxers from other promotions/stable... GBP has not develop its own in-house boxer...

As to your question, I don't know.

As to the fight between Campbell and Casamayor, it's not gonna happen. I think they bid a low amount, if they won they would have set different fights with each fighter, then made this fight if both won. I don't think the bidding of this fight has anything to do with your question. From what I have heard, they are setting a fight between Casamayor and Juan Diaz. Both GBP fighters and probably a more marketable fight.

Casamayor feels he beat Campbell and doesn't want to fight him again unless there is a big purse.

I think they do ok as building up fighters. They have more up and coming guys than Top Rank. It's kind of like trainers. Freddy Roach isn't training beginners and bringing them through the amateurs. He gets pros that have already established themselves. I think DKP and GBP and Top Rank are major league promoters. You pay your dues and work your way up with local promoters before they would even hear of you.

GBP are taking over boxing, for the good IMO.

GBP promotion is a like a an outbreak of genital warts on boxing's most precious jewels.

The best I can say about GBP is he's busy hiring all the fighters I hate so I can collectively detest the whole organisation and therefore always root for the opposition.

Casamayor did already beat Campbell. There's no need to fight him again for chump change. What is there to gain? A bunch of ABC belts? Fukk the belts. Casamayor is already the true lightweight champion.

I know Casa beat him. I used the word "feels" because Campbell thinks it was controversial. I think Casa deserves some big money fights, he's more than paid his dues. I think at this point it is about money for him, can't blame him, he's got a few fights left. Juan Diaz is the biggest money fight in that division. As far as true champ, Campbell has a good case by beating Juan. Casa seemed to be on the slide until Kats fight. Either way Campbell or Diaz would be entertaining fights, just who brings the most money.

Not sure if you wrote this or it's from an article but clearly your not looking at the big picture here.

Casa already beat Nate so in reality theres no need to fight him. Why would GBP want to put up so much money for a fight that they really don't want.

Trust me in the end Casa will get his big payday, DK was quickly to jump on it and that's because he knows Nate doesn't have much time and is a vet. so he'll bite down on whatever is there for him.

Yep GBP is setting up Casa vs. Juan Diaz but I'm not sure if GBP will give Casa a purse that's more than $610k DKP is offering to Casa right now...

Then how about this? Oscar is planning to have a rematch with PBF in September... Why not give this shot at PBF to the winner of Cotto-Margarito fight? Oscar can't coz Cotto/Margarito are not GBP promoted boxers... So why not give the PBF shot to his own GBP boxer Sugar Shane Mosley? Mosley is long regarded as one of those boxers who can give PBF troubles... Also Mosley's fight with Judah was cancelled and he need another fight badly... Oscar already had his shot at PBF and he came up short... At least he should give other deserving boxers a shot at PBF before he'll have his second chance...

Hope Oscar takes care the interests of his boxers first before his own personal interest...

It's GBP who's giving Casa (its very own boxer) some chump change... $285K to fight another champion, WTF? At least Don King made a more decent offer of $610k...

NATE CAMPBELL: WATCH HOW CASAMAYOR RUNS!"
    By G. Leon

GL: Earlier today Don King won the purse bid for your fight with Joel Casamayor. Based on the bid DK entered, do you think the fight is going to come off?

Nate Campbell: "Well, first of all. The bid just goes to show Casamyor what Golden Boy thinks about him. They only bid like $571, 000. If he thinks they believe in him and they bid half of what my promoter does, I don't know."

GL: I know you're in camp right now. Who are you in camp for?

Nate Campbell: "I'm in camp for a fight, I don't know with who. I let Don and Terry Trekas handle that, I'm just going to get myself ready to fight somebody."

GL: How much time does the Casamayor camp have before they have to make a decision?

NC: "I think they have a week. We're going to see Casamayor's true colors soon."

    GL: How was your honeymoon?

NC: "The Honeymoon was great. I enjoyed myself over there in the Cayman Islands and I'm thinking about buying myself a property there in the near future. Now I'm ready for a fight though, he's talking like he's the best in the world, I want him to prove it. Me and him fighting next would clean the division up. They mandated the fight and he's going to back out when he could have given the fans the best fight out there."

GL: Do you think he makes more money to fight Juan Diaz?

    NC: "I don't know."

GL: If you're Joel Casamayor and you're making significantly more for a fight with Juan Diaz than you'd make for a fight with Nate Campbell, even though the fight with Campbell might be more significant, who do you fight?

NC: "Nate Campbell will always go after the best fight and not the best money. But everybody is not like me and they're motivated by different things than I am. Everybody else wants to make a lot of money and retire and I'm here to fight."

GL: Based on your discussions with King and Terry is there a target month for your next fight?

    NC: "Sometime in July."

GL: And King is willing to do it by himself if he has to correct?

NC: "Oh yeah, I have a promoter. I'm not like Casamayor, I don't have a booking agent, I have a promoter."

    GL: Closing thoughts?

NC: "I'm looking forward to my next fight in July and then I'll be looking to unify the division before the end of the year."

Maybe a Campbell-Pacquiao unification fight at the end of the year?
