Re: Pressup Help.
Hi Gally,
Set a goal of the number of pushups that you'll work on each day (e.g. 150-200 press-ups). If you want to increase the number of how many consecutive pushups that you would like to do in a row, then you should focus on finishing your target number repetions within fewer sets. You can also do your pushups in a split session (eg. early afternoon and evening split).
You might want to keep your daily quota down to something that won't kill your arms, say around a hundred, or you can keep the reps up and just do your sessions just a few times a week.
Now that should get you a lot closer to your goal. If you need the extra strength, then I recommend that you strengthen the muscles that are involved in the pressup. For your chest and triceps, I'd focus on dips and bench pressing. For the isometric strength in your abdominals try planks. You can look up "planks" on google. It is simply an isometric exercise where you are in a pushup position with the one exception that your elbows/forearms are supporting your weight. You can have a friend place a heavy plate on your back, while you hold that isometric tension for several seconds or more. If you want to really take it to a spartan level than you can grab an ab-wheel and crank them out from jackknife to parallel (see rossboxing.com). I'd also recommend strengthening your back with pullups and rows. That will bring the amount of pushups to a new level.
Good luck with that. Kick ass and take names.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.
