Default HBO looking at Gamboa/Jorge Barrios and Kirkland/Joel Julio

its on boxingscene, nothing concrete yet, maybe in October.

Make it happen, sounds good to me. No way Kirkland/Julio goes the distance.

Barrios has only fought once in like 1.5 years or so. He's had bad eye injuries. It's smart match making. As for Julio and Kirkland,Kirkland beats him up bad. Fights at far too high a pace for the somtimes pedestrian Julio. Would be awesome to watch though!

Yeah probably but Kirkland with his style is flat out begging to be knocked out early with a counter right hand.

Dm right Ouma, I agree, which is why I think Angulo would hand him his ass JUulio would hurt him and maybe drop him but I see Kirkland winning.

Holy shit Gamboa is crazy, I think Barrios is too much for him this soon. If Darling Jimenez can hurt him then Barrios might knock him the fukk out! Very dangerous and ballsy move with his limited pro experience.

They should match Perro with the HIGHLY over rated Vanes Matirosoyan, the Armenian dude. And I'm sorry but as dangerous a fight as Barrios appears intially, his inactivity and detached retinas make him liable to cuts and less dangerous than he usually would be. Still a good fight but not a monster step up like most think it is.

Supposedly Barrios has said he's been fighting with bad eyes for a bit now, the inactivity is more of a factor, but he must have been in some kind of training. He was supposed to face Juarez twice now, and both times it got scrapped. Juarez pulled out this last time I think, don't quote me. IMO Barrios has way more pop than Jimenez who floored Gamboa. Yeah they are wide and looping shots but against Gamboa, a showboating guy who like to drop his hands and taunt, he could land one.

Actually I don't think anyone pulled out of this last Juarez/Barrios bout it was called off because Judah fell through a glass door and the entire undercard was scrapped with the main bout.

Barrios is a pressure fighter, Gamboa has his hands low, that could turn ugly. Barrios was able to connect on Joan Guzman at times, I wouldn't be surprised if he KO's Gamboa honestly.

The other one....ehh I don't know. I would rather see Julio-Angulo to be honest I don't know much about Kirkland outside of that one round I saw.

Jimenez didn't hurt Gamboa who was caught off balance. He wasn't on shaky legs at all at the knockdown, and later on Jimenez caught his attention with about three clean punches, but Gamboa wasn't hurt.

Gamboa has a good chin, and he's much faster and better offensively than Guzman who is better defensively. I Think Gamboa is ready for Barrios

He better pick his hands up regardless. Gamboa definitely has the talent to beat Barrios no doubt about it but he's probably one of, in not the hardest hitter in the division is Barrios so Gamboa better be careful. My guess is that Gamboa gets off the canvas to win.

I agree, about his hands. And it isn't even a stylistic thing for me, as I tend to have my left hand kinda low as that is just where it is comfortable.

With Gamboa though, he has both hands often down right at his sides, and it is almost in an arrogant fashion. As if to say..."This is what I can do and still beat you." I don't know enough of him, or his mindset to really know, but I believe if he keeps that going, he's going to get clobbered soon as he moves his way up.

The only thing he really needs to work on is keeping his hands up while he is getting back out of range after a combination, and while he is on the inside throwing punches. WHen he is at distance his reflexes and speed make impossible to land a punch on him on the outside. I feel if Gamboa didn't come in throwing a million punches and used distance more often nobody would be able to touch him. His skills are really good, but he definitely needs to pull back a little on the throttle when he is the ring, but either than that I like what I see great stamina, better speed, and good power.
