Default Emotional rollercoaster for us P.R. boxing fans

Talk about your highs and lows on the same night!! Whew! I'm worn out by it all. First it was the Quintana debacle. I barely had a chance to sit down with my beer when Quintana was reeling all over the ring. Geez... But I'll say this to Paul Williams: P-L-E-E-E-E-E-E-A-S-E..... move up to 154. You're way too tall for 147 and it's almost unfair to see you beat up on what are otherwise great boxers at that weight. Move up to 154 where you belong.

Anyway, it was on to the JML-Ponce de Leon fight. I was nervous as hell, but.... I couldn't believe my eyes!! What a beating JML handed the champ!! It was beau-u-u-u-u-utiful!! Another great Puerto Rican champ takes center stage. Ponce de Leon looked strong, but JML looked polished. When he had him in trouble, JML didn't get desperate, and finished him off in impressive fashion.

    I'm exhausted....

I've been waiting for the breakout fight for JML. I mean he has looked so good for so long now it seems like he has just been ready to break through for the longest time now. He's a special one. I've yet to see this fight tonight but I've seen plenty of Lopez I probably know what to expect.

We LOST one champion by 1st round KO... and we GAINED one champion by 1st round KO (what are the odds?).

All things considered, if it had to go that way, I'm glad it was this way instead of the other way around.

Don't worry Titofan. Puerto Rico still holds the MOST CHAMPS in boxing per capita and I also think MOST BEAUTY QUEENS(Ms. Universe) per capita. For such a small population you guys create GREAT people!!! Nobody can take that way from you guys.
And regarding P.Williams dont worry Cotto will chop him down, TIMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement, my friend. And I hope you're right regarding Cotto and Williams. Williams is just SO tall for the welterweight division. I know he'll eventually move up to 154. But in the meantime, he's a formidable force at 147.

Honestly it's almost unfair for a fighter well over 6 ft tall fighting at that weight. On the other hand that's a lot of BODY target for a GREAT body puncher like Cotto. I look at it this way Williams took 13 rounds to stop Quintana on the other hand Cotto did it right the first time
