Default Kessler on his way to lightheavy?

According to a danish newspaper yesterday the WBA supermiddleweight champion Mikkel Kessler might move up to 175 lbs. Manager Mogens Palle says "Mikkel must move to LHW to get the big fight. There are no proper opponents left at SMW. Only Joe Calzaghe and he said that he'd never fight Kessler again. I guess he's scared of losing."

Palle apparently still has his eyes fixed on Roy Jones jr.

Mikkel Kessler doesn't seem to exited: "I feel strong in my weightclass. Nobody is stronger than me. I have fast hands and I can punch. But of course it depends. If I got an offer from a guy only 3 kg.'s heavier why wouldn't I do it? I just have to know well in advance."

I see Palle's point. No big names at SMW is available in the immidiate future.

    Taylor will likely fight Lacy
    Calzaghe will fight RJJ
Pavlik must fight Abraham before moving up
    Bute will fight Andrade

That leaves just about nobody since a fight with Froch likely wont attract a viewing audience in the US.

I hope he is gunning for Dawson.

Haha Palle is such an idiot. How can he say Kessler is sick of losing? Calzaghe hasn't lost and he beat Kessler.

Moving to LHW would be an complete and utterly stupid move (at least if you look beyond the next fight), wherefore I have chosen to completely ignore these musings.

Defend in Germany (yeah, that will truly be waste of time, but just get it out of the way quickly), fight one more time this year in Denmark or on a US undercard, and go after the winner of Froch-Taylor - this will be a unification - or at least Jeff Lacy. Putting a beating on Lacy might get him within a shout of a Pavlik fight, which btw would generate much more money than Chad Dawson.

Another route is just marketing himself in Germany, aiming for Abraham. He has beaten Beyer and now Sartison, Haussler may be upcoming (mandatory), and he could travel to Jurgen Braehmer or Denis Inkin this year as well. That would probably make financial sense, and by now even American audience (not that they matter _that_ much) should give props for an Abraham-fight.

I am a Dane too and never watched this news - link? Kessler has said from day one that he is a SMW and wants to be king there.

The issue I have hear is that Palle is trying to build Kess legacy around other fighters. Kess needs to do what he needs to do at SMW he needs to gathering up all them titles and then he can move on. Theres good fights at SMW.... Froch, Bute & Inkin.

If Palle wants Kess at 175 it must be because hes after cash now and is not interested in Kess as a fighter but more of Kess the fighter that can get him cash.

Mikkel will stay at 168lbs but leave the option to move up and only Calzaghe or Jones would tempt him up thats what he is saying.

168 has much more depth and with Taylors arrival imminent and Pavlik certain to join the ranks at 168 within the year its going to be a hot division.

Why not just beat up Sam Solimon now in Australia get some viewership there, expanding his fan base. And then openings will be the with big names at 168 will be there. With Calzaghe gone, why not try to dominate the division it is within his grasp.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

This is the stupidest thing I've heard in a while... Just like the jibberjabber about a PAC Oscar fight...

This is rediculous! Kessler is the future of the SMW Div. He IMHO is the best there is there... Joe C is all but done and the Dane is a young buck with great ability and all the potential in the world.

This is a little upsetting to hear to say the least...
