Default ‘The Wind's Welterweight World Championships’

Welcome to ‘The Wind's Welterweight World Championships’.

I am not sure if anybody has done this before or something similar.

What I have done is collated the top 9 welterweights in the world (IMO) and then placed them into a single group, there were originally going to be 2 groups but then we wouldn’t have all fighting each other.

Each fighter fights the other once and the scoring is as follows:

A KO or TKO win will earn the fighter £1.3 million

A UD, MD OR SD will earn the winner £1 million

A Draw will earn each boxer £500.000

Also if a fighter loses a SD he will still pick up £200.000 for his efforts.

The fighters are as follows in no particular order:

    Paul Williams

    Carlos Quintana

    Miguel Cotto

    Antonio Margarito

    Zab Judah

    Shane Mosley

    Luis Collazo

    Andre Berto

    Kermit Cintron

As for the voting to determine the outcome, I will simply provide you with all the options.

Now for the fights that have already happened it doesn’t necasaerly mean we have to vote that way, for example Paul Williams Vs. Maragrito was very close, so consider all the factors etc and make a new informed decision e.g. I would have Margarito winning a UD, but of course the fight against Cintron tells us he wins by round 6 KO.

The Williams v Quintana matches tell us Williams wins by TKO if they fight in this championship, because we can look back and make an informed decision, I hope that makes sense.

At the end of the first group stage If any 2 fighters are on equal money then the result against each other determines who is placed higher in the table, if the fight between the two happened to be a draw then we look at their records against fighters higher than them in the table.

The top 4 will go through to a Semi Final with the top of the table taking on number 3 and second placed taking on number 4 and then a Final is staged There will also be a 3rd place fight off between the two losing semi finalists.

The voting to determine the winner requires the forum to use your vast knowledge of boxing and I ask for your ‘unbiased’ results.

Every week or 4 days (to be confirmed) I will post the bouts taking place, ideally I would like to finish the 'Championships' before the Cotto Vs. Margarito bout as if we continue this after I think it will be a bit of an anti-climax. 4 days will hopefully give everyone sufficient time to cast their votes, remember we are not debating each others opinion but merely trying to get some sort of understanding as to how this would pan out and then the Final result should be interesting and see what it reflects.

I will also provide the updated Table Standings etc, every 4 days.

This should cover most scenario’s e.g. rematches, and maybe a trilogy or two

Let me know what you think if you think its a good idea and most will participate, I will post the first round of bouts tomorrow.

I thought I would have got a better response, but it seems as though this 'Championship' is of no interest to anyone?
