    Excellent.

I'm really looking forward to this.
    I feel Cotto has to conceed the power i this fight. If he enters trying to make a statement Margarito will capitalise, if not in raw power in volume and accuracy. I've said it before;
In every fight a fighter will get hurt by at least one of the opponents punches. Margarito increases this probability with his output, accuracy and timing.

I'm relying on my man Cotto to retain his composure at all times, stay on the backfoot, jab and flury when Margarito allows him the opportunity. A single minded strategy relying on power will not work against Margarito, we had this hypothesis proven in the Cintron fight, but Margarito is frustratable. Cotto needs to move well and punch clean and using that strategy I feel he can evade the Tornado for a UD.

Had to "rep" you on this one babe.

Totally agree...Cotto's got to box to get this one outta the bag. I think that the strategy he used against Mosley will save him from getting his bell rung & his ass stung.

I'll return that rep when the Saddo-God allows it Wack.

In turn I think your correct, people have been heard to say "Cotto hasn't had the right opposition in preparation for Margarito," however in each of the Judah, Mosely and Gomez fights he was a ball of perpetual movement and energy.

I feel thats precisely what he needs to do against an antagonist like Antonio.

ALRIGHTY then, looks like the big chief is back in the mix.

Love this fight, mishmash of styles and you can not hope to root for either guy.Cotto is so developed very nicely and I do believe his key will be a very disciplined mix of backfoot boxing with necessary spots of asserted power and blunting Margaritos onslaught.I do not believe that it would be wise for him to sit inside and swap with Margarito. His jab and body shots can be telling here.

Margarito should needs to stick with the horse that brought him.Just work those angles with volume punching, keep Cotto on his heels and he must cut down that ring. His uppercut can come under on Cotto in a big way but he needs to not "Douglas" it up too much.Telegraph and over extend repetitively Lol.Tony is a more than capable body hitter and should very his attack. I'm picking Margarito in a late round TKO,and yes I understand Cotto is the far better 'boxer'. I love this fight like a fat kid loves double stuffed Oreo's

Very good to see you Wacko,I'll put away my "Navajo code talk" on the RBR and sit back and enjoy the real deal ......I can not help but think of this Clip leading up to this weekend,Go ahead call me corny

The Champ is here LORDY LORDY Thank you Wacks like Amat said this is like the start of the season or opening day in Baseball...

I actually picked like you for the same reasons, I just feel Margarito is built better for a war of attriction and will grind down Cotto and drown him late

    Good times are back!

NOW everything is perfect for this weekend - I've got a bottle of Crown, the wife's OK to watch the fight and get shlokered, and the return of the DRBR!

It doesn't get any better than this...unless anyone has ringside seats they'd like to give me?

The tale of the tape show Margarito to be considerable bigger than Cotto, but I'll wait for the tale on the night as regards Biceps, calves etc.

    Hi Guys,

I've been away from Saddo's for a few months, but with this fight I just had to come back and see what everyone was thinking. Should be a great fight.

I must first say though. Wacko, if my memory serves correct, you promised that if Cotto proved you wrong against Mosley, you'd never doubt him again? I see a doubting prediction right at the start of this thread. How could you?

I might as well throw my thoughts in on this one. My feeling is that if Miguel chooses to engage in a war like he did against Torres and more recently againts Judah, he'll get hurt and hurt bad. If Tony can walk through Cintron's heavy handed shots and take them flush, he'll be able to do the same to Cotto. However, if Cotto chooses to use his feet and move away from Tony's shots, all the while tagging him with the jab, he could put on a masterclass performance to make Tony look silly.

I'm a massive Cotto fan, and I never feared a fight with Floyd as I felt Cotto has enough tools in his arsenal to overcome Floyd. However, like Wacko feared the Mosley fight, I have always had my reservations about this one. I don't for a second think that Margarito is a better fighter, I just feel that no matter how good you are, there is always someone who has your number. For me, this could be it. I hope to god Cotto wins, but I can't see Miguel knocking him out, and it'll be very difficult to last the full 12 if he engages in a war, which I feel his pride will lead him to do.

Tony in 10. And it kills me to say that.

I picked Cotto to win but on the night I'll be cheering for Margarito as I always support the underdog in fights where I either don't care who wins or like both guys. Anybody else do that?

I forgot to add. Well done to Bob Arum for making this fight. I don't think there are many better match-ups out there in the world to be made right now.

No lying... My throat got dry as I saw and read this thread.
Fucken love's ya brotha Wacks... In real manly way.

Fucken eeeyyy!!! I remember Wackoff was one of the more "harder critics" of Cotto in his early days. I remember a specific talk we had some time around the Chop Chop fight where Wacks said it was time for Cotto to either step it up or get out of the way. I remember I told him that the way Cottos career was being managed was a good way and that there was no need to rush.
Wacks said that he wanted to see Cotto already with the best in the world.

Well as time has passed Cottos proven time and time again why he's considered P4P top 10 and #1 Welter in the world.

It sucks for me cause for many yrs. I spent here defending Cotto from the start (he was at 140) and at the same time defending Margarito for all I had endless threads of debates and El Gamo and myself trying to hold down the fort saying Tony deserved a shot at the best Zab ducked him, PBF ducked him, SSM ducked him now here we are he's gotten a shot and 2 of my fav. boxers meet.

With that being said I've sided with Cotto I just feel he's the better all around fighter.

One thing I will say is that if Tony catches Cotto with a clean shot and has him hurt Tony (like Cotto) is one of the best finishers in the business when he has his opponent hurt.
