Punch Power: 0 | | It was Miguel Cotto who drove Floyd Mayweather Jr into Retirement says Famed Promoter At a press conference on Wednesday to help hype Saturday's highly anticipated HBO match up between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, Promoter Bob Arum was on hand.
At the conference Arum made it clear what he thought of retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. Arum blasted Mayweather Jr. for not having anything that could hurt Cotto and assured those in attendance that Cotto is the reason Mayweather Jr. abruptly retired.
In regards to a Cotto vs Mayweather Jr. fight, Arum stated: "Miguel would run him out of the ring." Arum went on to add: "He has nothing to hurt Miguel with. Miguel drove him into retirement." |

Punch Power: 2360 | | Re: It was Miguel Cotto who drove Floyd Mayweather Jr into Retirement says Famed Prom Miguel Cotto had nothing what so ever to do with Oscar who Floyd was due to fight Sept 20th. If he had fought Oscar then retired maybe but i dont buy it Floyd turned down 20million in a virtual gimmie to retire what Cotto has to do with that is beyond me.
I guess the guy got paid for the interview and had noting intresting to say so made up his own wacko theory. |

Margarito always stands a chance even if he is outboxed he is rarely if ever outgunned

Punch Power: 12428 | | Re: It was Miguel Cotto who drove Floyd Mayweather Jr into Retirement says Famed Prom +1391 The only thing that drove Floyd into retirement IMO was Floyd's own inflated ego and worth.
Once he realizes he is not a billionaire likes he think he is, he will be back.
You will see him fight in 2009 folks.
I cannot fathom Floyd having a fear of losing. He enjoyed way too much success and does not know what losing feels like. Don't believe for a second that he fears Cotto. He knows Cotto is risky business, but he does not think he can lose to him.
He will get bored and come out for more. Just give him some time.

Punch Power: 18833 | | Re: It was Miguel Cotto who drove Floyd Mayweather Jr into Retirement says Famed Prom Arum is just playing Carnival barker for what he hopes will come to be match up. I think Cotto is convinced he does not need Mayweather but they both should (I know Cotto Is) have full focus on Margarito
And I will put Money on Mayweather Un-"retiring".....yawn. |

Punch Power: 5438 | | Re: It was Miguel Cotto who drove Floyd Mayweather Jr into Retirement says Famed Prom He's going to pull some Sugar Ray Leonard stuff by unretiring but he's going to get a rude awakening if he fights EITHER Cotto or Toni.
Those guys have put their careers on the line more than Floyd EVER has or ever has even thought of doing!
Shane Mosley, Paul Williams, Carlos Quintana, Cintron, Clottey....Floyd never got near those guys and he had ample opportunity and REASON to fight them (some more than others but they are far more dangerous than Ricky Hatton as a welterweight) | |
