I realise there are dozens of threads on this result, so I decided that although I wanted my opinion heard, I would post it here so as not to further congest the main board.

My take on the fight;
The fight itself was a classic. We saw some very high quality boxing early from Cotto, his movement was better than we had suspected, his countering was first rate and his accuracy was very impressive.
I had backed Cotto and had invested a lot of myself in cheering for him.
I was impressed early, but from the first round on I had an underlying fear, only kept at bay by his swift counters. Miguel did a beautiful job throughout thf ight, but it taxed him to keep the effort.

I saw the potential in Margarito early. I was unable to post anything in the Round by Round apart from "My heart is in my mouth!!!" Cotto was boxing beautifully, but at every given opportunity Margarito was flurrying and targeting the body.
As the fight wore on Cotto allowed Margarito more opportunity to get to his body. His crouched hands high defence seemed effective, in fact to him it may have felt effective, but although his chin remained protected his ribs, sides and abs were being weakened. His stamina and heart were secretly being stolen by Margarito.
I repeat myself once again; "Margarito utilises educated pressure, his volume, accuracy and intensity creates a tidal pressure which much be resisted."

I needn't describe the finish. Cotto took a knee, he was drowning. Tony's height, physicality and sublime conditioning meant his head was well above water.

The aftermath;
I'm a huge Cotto fan. He took a knee and I respected him for it.
Although I felt Miguel did the best thing he could have, I hadn't felt that sick since December 8th 2007.

I knew there would be arguements afterward, overjoyed Margarito fans, who defied the experts and proved themselves the most loyal of supporters were to be admired, but eventually someone would take it too far and dis Cotto's effort.
Within 5 minutes of the result I heard someone call Cotto a "Bitch."
I didn't reply.

Cotto fans, like myself, desperately searched for an excuse.
I heard some blame it on Miguels bleeding nose, others on Miguels fitness and even some on Margarito headbutting and fouling!

But I'll just finish up with the following;
To all fans involved in the fight.
Our two men made a classic.
Miguel Cotto put in a superb effort, he looked amazing and exloited Margarito's style early. He desreves respect, he is undoubtedly among the elite boxers in the world.
Antonio Margarito.....The man clearly knew his purpose, he endured, he persevered and he achieved.
A truely driven individual, his efforts should see him acknowledged as one for the ages.
Respect to both men, no excuses or sidenotes. Both fighters are great.

Thanks to those who heard me out.
