Default Who would have won? Pedroza v Sanchez

The early 80s was blessed with 2 of the greatest featherweights of all time in Salvador Sanchez and Eusebio Pedroza. Sanchez held the WBC title and Pedroza the WBA at the same time as each other.

As we all know Sanchez unfortunately died in a car crash and prevented the fight from ever happening. Who though would have won if they had fought each other at the time of Sanchezs' death?

I personally would go for Sanchez! But both were great and although I have respect for Mcguigan I don't think he would have stood a chance with a prime Pedroza.

Gee that is a close one. I'd go Sanchez, but Pedroza would have every chance. Poor Pedroza is almost a forgotten man yet u could argue he is one of the greatest feathers of all time.

I know. Absolute monster of the feather division and seemed invincible once he won his version of the title!

Funny thing about Pedroza is he's soneglected in terms of people remebering his career, yet all McGuigan fans base their claims of greatness on Barry beating him.

I'd probably agree but how much better could he have got? I think he was close to the finished article. He could maybe have improved his mental side and not been dragged into wars as much.

I'm riding the fence and saying a draw.

Maybe Pedroza by KO on a right uppercut to the groin, left elbow to the temple, then a right uppercut to the hip combo.

Tough call here both brilliant boxers lots of skill...

As a Chava fan I'd side with him. I think he'd be able to win a decision but it would take a perfect performance from Chava to do this. Chava would need to be precise and accurate with his punches.

The great thing about Pedroza is that he fought some of the best competition around from very early in his career.
In his 1st loss he faced top prospect at the time Perez.
He then fights Mexicos Alfonso Zamora who was the champ and was 24-0 with 24 kos and then Arnal yet another hard hitting prospect at the time.

When he fought for the title Lastra was the heavily favorite coming into the fight Pedroza was just there to get served but something happened that night and Pedroza showed signs of things to come. He fought well and stopped Lastra late in the fight.
His wins over Kobayashi, Olivares, Lockridge x2, Ford, La Porte, Lujan and his fight Barry tell it all.

Default Could Eusebio Pedroza Have Been The Man To Beat Salvador Sanchez ?

Just watched some Pedroza fights and he is very underrated i can't believe i haven't heard more about him but lets discuss this fight too my knowledge they only had two common opponents Patrick Ford, Juan La Porte......

Now Sanchez had some trouble with Ford's height and reach and was losing the fight until he pulled it out in the later rounds and i had Sanchez winning by 2 points where as Pedroza knocked out Ford with one devastating left hook and had him on the canvas for a few minutes...........

Unfortunately i haven't seen Pedroza vs La Porte but i did see Sanchez vs La Porte but reading up on Pedroza vs La Porte it sounded like Pedroza had more trouble with La Porte than Sanchez did.........

Salvador Sanchez was a good counter puncher but often took more punches than he had to but his chin well made up for that plus he had good footwork and amazing stamina........

Eusebia Pedroza had a good jab a good defense and good infighting skills but he wouldn't have been able to roughouse Sanchez like Pedroza did with quite alot of his opponents because Danny Lopez tried that twice and got a beating and so did Wilfredo Gomez..........

But anyway thoughts on this match up guys/girls ?

It would've been a tough fight. Probably a close decision, not sure who would've won.

Sanchez was never too interested in facing Pedroza.
