Fought on Telefutura tonight.
He wasn't exactly fighting world class opposition but I was very impressed with him tonight. Very slick Puerto Rican southpaw, was very elusive in there tonight. I noticed he had the Dominican flag on his trunks as well as the PR and US flags, he reminded me a bit of Joan Guzman without the power.
Not much power but very nice elusive skills, very nice. Fights at 140, that division is getting more and more stacked by the day with young talent and he only adds to it. Fights with his hands a bit low at times, likes to lead with the straight left and sometimes leans out in front with it a bit to much and when he presses forward he isn't terribly accurate but for most of the night he just potshotted which is always fun to watch for me. Very impressed with his elusiveness though, Navarrate wasn't much but he landed maybe 5 clean blows all night and really had all the air taken out of him by that. When he was little he was nicknamed "Whitaker", can see why. Very, very impressed with this guy, especially with some of his combinations he would lead with the left, kind of lean in and then pull back and shoot the right hook like very few I've ever seen. Very fun to watch, the fans were booing a bit but I thought he showed great skill.
Anyone else watch? Anyone know anything else about him as far as amateur pedigree or anything goes? I imagine he was a good amateur to have those skills. Macho? lol
