Thread: Kermint Cintron & Emanuel Steward Part Ways

• Manager/trainer Emanuel Steward and former welterweight titlist Kermit Cintron have parted ways, Steward told ESPN.com. Steward, who worked with Cintron (29-2, 27 KOs) for the past couple of years and guided him to a title, said they split a few weeks ago. "I'm not with Kermit anymore," Steward said. "It was a mutual understanding. It was not any one thing. For the benefit of both of us, we said let's go our separate ways and we parted with a handshake. I wish him good luck. He can always call me for anything." Cintron lost his belt via sixth-round knockout to Antonio Margarito in April. Since then, Cintron also changed promoters, getting released by Main Events and signing with Lou DiBella.

Who didn't see that coming? When your fighter gets kayoed and you're back in the broadcast booth before the sweat dries praising the guy who just exchanged your fighter's ass for his title I'd say it was a foregone conclusion.

...no matter who your trainer is kermit, don't let them talk you into fighting tony again. Stay away from that man.

yeap, the ol' adage holds true. Styles makes fights and Cintron can not handle Margarito to save his life.

I have to agree on this one, I don't think Cintron will be able to beat Margarito no matter how many times they fight or who his trainer is. However, I believe that he can still recover and make a couple of good fights, and who knows, if becoming a world champ again... but, not against Margarito...

I think this is good for Cintron if he has any hopes of salvaging career.They were on two totally different pages in rematch and Manny frustration was palpable.He was pleading so much and seemed to realize Cintron was giving.

Cintron is such a mixed contrast.Physically he has some awesome attributes,legitimate eye closing power,and good physicality but in between the ears is where he has immense problems......he will get another shot but has to do some self evaluation big time.

it was probably a financial reason for getting rid of steward

he maybe good, but he cost alot and if kermit aint getting any fights soon its hard
