I get sick every time I see him pedalling himself on the Steve Bunce show.

He keeps name dropping all these different promoter's who have hit him with million pound offers, he keeps telling us all the tv shows he's been on and telling us how he's been talking with the experts to make sure he gets a multi million pound offer to turn pro.

I never even watched him in the Olympics as Olympic boxing is a farce imo but I'm already hoping he gets sparked on his debut.

Winning an Olympic gold has absolutely nothing to do with how good you'll be as a pro, just look a our recent 'successes' in Audley and Amir.

I wish we'd stop showering these guys with riches before they have done fuck all in the pro game

Degale didnt look all that special , we will have to see if he is any good , but my opinion is he will need to pack a world class punch in order to be a top fighter , something Khan and Harrison lack.

your sentance would have made more sense to me if you said pack a world class chin

Good point Bilbo. I wish he'd just keep his head down and sign a contract and get on wit hfighting.

All he's doing is lining himself up to be another Audrey or Amir if he doesn't deliver/

Not a good sign to be talking too much about the money before you've even had a first pro fight.

Completely agree Bilbo what has happened to plying your trade and making a name for yourself in the ring not before you your first pro fight. i for one was not that impressed with his performance at the games and will be watching in the wings for his debut. No boxer should be demanding millions before there first fight hope his family pull him back to earth and tell him just to get on with it and prove what he´s worth IN the ring. Rant over

YOU FIND IT HARD TO UNDERSTAND MY POST ? I SAID WORLD CLASS PUNCH , NOT BEING ABLE TO KO BUMS AT DOMESTIC LEVEL , I THINK YOU MAY FIND KHAN DOESNT KO ANY WORLD CLASS FIGHTERS , AS YOU WONT SEE HARRISON KOING ANY TOP FIGHTERS.
SO TO SUM UP DEGALE WILL NEED A WORLD CLASS PUNCH IN MY OPINION TO MAKE IT .
AND YES KHAN AND HARRISON HAVE WEAK CHINS AT WORLD LEVEL TO.
DEGALE WILL HAVE TO TAK E A PUNCH ALSO.

Frankie Gavins is a way,way better prospect than Degale.

Good luck to Degale, but lets be honest he was there at the right place at the right time, he is nothing that amazing, id put the house on it that if the same fighters at the same olympics went at it ten more times Degale would be lucky to win it once, he was a 66/1 shot, very pleased he took his shot and won the Gold.

IMO i have seen George Groves many times and he would beat Degale if they met in the pro ranks, he is making his debut on Haye Barrett undercard and best Degale in 2006 aba's. Have a read of this

To be fair to Degale he had a tough, tough draw in even getting to the finals but i think he looked a little chinny at times and did not seem to like mixing it up much..maybe just his style but at the end of the day if you look at the people he fought on route to the final he had the hardest possible route.

I say good luck to him getting the big dough. As Skel said he was a huge outsider going to the olympics.

All the amatuer "experts" didn't give him a hope in hells of winning.. considering the Irish guy has beaten him about 30 times in the past you gotta question whether he half-fluked it... but now he is well known, it just makes his career FAR more interesting, whether people will like or hate him

It worries me that like Khan he's set to be a millionare before he sets foot in a pro ring
Unavoidable i guess after the Hype surrounding Khans entrance to the pro game but it must and will go to a mans head for sure.
Gonna be an interesting one i say but i don't think he's a world beater from what i have seen but good luck to him!

I don't think it matters much he'll be "famous" and loaded before entering the ring because unlike Khan i don't think the "experts" believe he's much cop - do they?

    Anyone know Degales amatuer record?
