Well it's pretty simple, if world-class fighters and great fighters are not beating other world-class or great fighters how can they be classed as world-class or great?

If Sam Peter isn't world-class Wlad and Vitali's wins mean NOTHING.

So are they not world-class either? Who do they have to beat? Or does their silky skills MAKE them world-class?

Did anyone else laugh at this? haha

Um, this is ridiculous. If course Sam Peter is a world class heavyweight. What is the definition of world class? Someone who can compete on an international level with the best in the world. Obviously Peter can and has despite coming up dreadfully short against Vitali.

Calzaghe's legacy, well he's obviously one of the greats of the generation but if you want to compare it to Hopkins' and Jones, I'd say he falls short of both. He might have had better wins then Jones but never had the type of showstopping skill that makes Jones one of the greatest fighters of all time. Jones had what maybe nobody ever did, can't fault Joe for that.

Hopkins fought in a better division and lasted until his 40's! And he didn't do it just fighting in his backyard.

Also, I think the Lacy victory was the most significant Joe ever had. It was the only fight he was ever an underdog in as a champ and it was his best performance ever. To say the Lacy victory meant nothing is bullshit and just revisionist history.

Peter is in no way a world class heavy. He's a world class slow fat bastard with a big punch. Anybody with more mobility than a bus shelter can beat him easily.

Nobody right now. They're all garbage. Choosing your favourite heavyweight right now is like looking at a bunch of dog turds and choosing which one you'd most like to step in.

If you want to call Samuel Peter a world class boxer go right ahead.

Having a championship belt around your waist doesn't mean you are a great fighter or champion. Is Joe Calzaghe a bum...obviously not. Is he one of the most overhyped fighters in recent years...IMO...absolutely. The man has never beaten great fighter in their prime. The closest he has come was Eubanks and Hopkins. As we all know...Eubanks was no spring chicken when they fought...and Calzaghe still had a relatively close fight. The Hopkins fight was a draw in my humble opinion. But even if you are one to side with a clear Joe win in that fight...he hardly looked incredible against a 43 year old opponent who throw pretty much one punch the entire fight (the straight right). So that leaves the other 2 big wins in his career: Lacy and Kessler. Give Calzaghe credit for exposing Lacy for who was: an overhyped and one dimensional fighter. If some of you want to make Lacy anything more than that...you are just trying to make something out of very little. So that leaves me with Kessler. In some ways you can argue that maybe Kessler was the best PRIME fighter Joe ever faced. Is Kessler a good, solid fighter...yes. Is he a GREAT fighter...no chance. Can one also critique Roy's resume...sure. But Roy handily beat a prime, clear pound 4 pound champion in Toney...something Calzaghe has never done. But more importantly...Roy brought a level of athleticism the sport has rarely seen. Joe has had no where near that influence or impact on the sport.

i would say kessler is more of an unknown quantity right now. He will have to prove himself and step up to better and better competition, but in the future Kessler could be a great fighter. it's not out of the possibility.

Kessler was a far better fighter and challenge compared to lacy i give Calzaghe credit for this win he actually landed quite a lot and hurt Calzaghe a few times it was a good fight.
